We all know QB needs to be addressed, and 99 percent of the arguments on this board are about that position. Just for fun, let's freshen up the discussion a little bit and talk about some of the other prospects.

Assuming the Bills decide to pass on QB at #8, what players are you highest on? What players do you want them to avoid?

A few guys I would seriously consider that don't seem to get associated with our pick:

Dion Jordan, OLB, DE, Oregon
Lane Johnson, OT, OU
Bjoern Werner, DE, FSU

I have seen Jordan mocked at #1 and I have seen him mocked out of the top 10. Personally, I think he's somewhere in that 5-15 range. Right in our wheel house and I would be happy with that pick. Same with Werner and Johnson. I see them valued all across the board. I would love either at 8 as well.

I like Eric Fisher quite a bit as well, but I am assuming he's gone by our pick. If not, I would pounce on him too.

Why?

1)Raw
2)Inconsistent hands
3)rumours he did not interview well at the Combine

I've recently been doing some research into the linebackers.

GOOD:

> Ezekiel Ansuh, BYU - From what I saw on tape, the guy is pretty much unblockable. He's not physically imposing, but he's agressive and got a knack for avoiding and breaking free of blocks. He's also equally solid as a pass rusher and run defender. I think he should be in the discussion for first overall.

> Dion Jordan, Oregon - His versatility and athelticism is intriguing. A DC would love his ability to play anywhere on the field. It's not often you see a guy that can play 4-3 defensive end, and also see him covering outside receivers. He's also relentless in his pursuit of the ball carrier. He's very raw as a pass rusher though. If he can add some bulk, retain his speed and learn some more rush moves - he could be the best defender in football in 3-4 years.

SO-SO

> Jarvis Jones, Georgia - I'm not worried about the combine numbers. I'm not worried about the spinal condition. On tape, Jones is the best pass rusher in this draft class. My only concern is his run defense. He's going to put up sacks in the pros, but he may turn out to be a passing down specialist instead of a 3-down guy.

BAD:

> Alec Ogletree, Georgia - I wouldn't touch this guy until at least the third round. Forget the DUI. He's got lots of big hits on You Tube, but his overall play is average. I like linebackers with great awareness that pursue the ball carrier on every play. Ogletree waits for the ball to come to him, and if it doesn't - he gives no real effort.

4) Hes not worth a #8 pick. most scouts have him between #15 and #25 best overall prospects, so why would we take him at 8? There are far too many talented OL, DL, and LBs available to pick a high ceiling, "potential" kindof guy at #8.

Agreed on Patterson.

My favorite WR in this class (by far) is Tavon Austin. Patterson's best trait is his YAC ability. Austin is probably better in that area, and he comes without questions about inconsistent route running, hands or being a one-year wonder.

There are also several WRs slated to go in the 2nd-3rd rounds (Woods, Hunter, Hopkins) that have arguably as much upside as Patterson.

Huh? Have you seen him return and run the ball like a runningback? He may be raw but the guy is dynamic.

He never said he wasnt dynamic...there are just other WRs, that he listed, that are ALSO dynamic and can be had in the 2nd round

My sense is Joeckel, Jordan, Floyd, Fischer and Milliner are definitely gone before the Bills pick.

I am still hoping for Geno Smith at this point, but as far as non-QBs, I think the guys to consider are Johnson, Mingo, Ansah, Jones and Lotulelei. I like the upside of Mingo and Johnson, the leadership and production of Jones but question whether Ansah or Lotulelei fit, the first because of scheme and the second because the Bills have already invested in Dareus and Williams.

I was referring to upside. I think Patterson has more upside based on his ability to do more than just play WR.

I'm all about Lane Johnson, I think he has the makings to be a great tackle in the NFL. He does need to improve on his strength a bit but I doubt that would be much of an issue.

Guys I am high on for the #8 pick, and I'm talking value, not need, guys that I see becoming PBers or high impact players.

1. Lane Johnson

2. Eric Fisher

3. Ezekiel Ansah

4. Dee Milliner

5. Dion Jordan

6. Tavon Austin (don't care about size, kid will be a star)

7. Alec Ogletree (If we're playing 3-4 which it looks like we are, he can be a beast inside)

8. Chance Warmack

Do not want:

Patterson, Star, Vaccaro, Keenan Allen, Werner

Versatility is nice. But 90-95 percent of his job is going to be WR. And looking at that area alone, he's got a lot of question marks.
Everybody knows he can break a big play with the ball in his hands. But can he get open consistently? Can he make tough catches in tight coverage?

I would rather have a player that his great/exceptional at his primary job, than have a guy that can do a bunch of things at an good/above average level.

It's the same reason I would take Ezekel Ansah over Dion Jordan. Jordan is more versatile and could be used in multiple different ways.
However, at this point Ansah is clearly a superior pass rusher and better at stopping the run. And those are the two main things we would be asking him to do.

I understand what you're saying. Just saying that if every draft prospect hits all their potential, Patterson has more to offer that any other wr.

They all have the upside to be great receivers, Patterson just offers more than just receiving upside.

Doubt one of the TEs would last until the 3rd, or Justin Hunter until the 4th.
Would be nice though.
