The Bills made a roster move Friday, claiming LB Marcus Dowtin off waivers... Dowtin (6’2” 226) was placed on waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles following his release on Thursday... The linebacker is a player with whom Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is familiar. Dowtin was originally signed by the New York Jets last year as an undrafted rookie free agent...

I'm no scout, I know that the kid has been released from Jets (what a great team they are!), from the famous dream team, and that youtube highlights means ****, but I like this boy. :gobills:

That "song" on that highlight video is probably among the worst I've ever heard in my entire lifetime.

Sort of reminds me of being a kid at Christmas as I got older. There was this Marrone/Pettine wrapped package that held a Kolb/Dowtin. I knew there wasn't going to be a big cool toy, but it might be something cool....it was underwear and socks. Sure I could use them and did, but they weren't really present at any of my memorable moments and they faded into time as utility wrapped in promise. Make no mistake, I did awesome things with underwear and socks, I just can't remember them, or which underwear and socks I did awesome things with. I have a feeling I will be upset with the draft. This year for Buffalo sports in general just makes me queasy, it's getting harder and harder to even fool myself into getting excited about camp body signings. Anyway, Dowtin, yay, hoo, Pettine will tear up the league with a 226 pound LB to back up Scott in the Tampa-2, 3-4, 4-3, 4-6. The Bills are slicing into that prime FA layer with wily signings. Does anyone else have a 226 lb linebacker ? Does he not know where the training table or weight room are ? What happened to Keith Ellison ? I want to go home.

If the Bills' LBs weren't so ****ty I would use the term "camp fodder," as silly of a term as that sounds. However, I would say he's a 50/50 shot to make the Opening Day roster at this point due to his ties with Pettine and the abysmal LBs on the roster right now.

He knows the Bills defense, and Pettine knows him. I'm sure that those are the main reasons Buffalo signed him. Whether he does anything to stick, who knows. I'm not as down on the Bills linebackers as most seem to be.

Loved him...Me too. I love it when long shot players make it and then play well.

He's that Byran Scott type that can drop into the short zone or come up into the box as a big safety. Doesn't hurt to bring him in and see if he can contribute. Could be needed depth.

I love these overreactions about nothing. So many high school theater diva's here.

Watched some highlights of the guy from Georgia and North Alabama he is definitely and athlete and can get a good drop in coverage. I think he will be a backup WILB in our 34 looks or WILL in a 43 looks, in other words Bradhams backup.

I also think Moats will be a general purpose backup and that Chris White will be Shepps backup.

Respect isn't given, it's earned.

As Desert Fox pointed out likely WILB in our defense, will help in coverage. Also not a bad tackler, works through traffic pretty well.

He's an undersized youngster who was a UDFA last year. Guys like that often bounce around for a while, and then either find a place where they can stick or wash out of the league. This guy has excellent athleticism, and as I said, Pettine obviously knows him, and apparently had a good deal to do with signing him as soon as he became available.

The kind of response I was looking for. Thanks.

Corey Moore Moore was a DE and Dowtin weighs more than him. Crazy we drafted Moore, he never played a down for us I don't think.
