All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Seeing more & more Jabaal Sheard trade buzz. 15.5 sacks, 6 FFs through 2 seasons. 24 in May. 6'3/264 with 1.59 10-yard split at '11 Combine.

I give short shrift to sacks these days. The rules in college and pros dictate that hundreds and hundreds of pass plays occur - no wonder there are all these fat, fat sack numbers.

The baseline has been moved.
I was curious to see how sack numbers moved, so I walked it back 40 years in 5 year chunks to see the average team sacks:
So I guess it's a question of timeline, because sacks seem to be down from their historical peak. I would guess that it is a combination of shorter passing games, more shotgun, and sacks being converted into personal fouls.
