Way to kill the novelty off, NHL. Talk about grasping for straws after another lockout.

This is the most blatant and ill-advised cash grab.

why is it ill-advised? people will scoop these tickets up. they capitalize on the kings current excellence and hoopla.

yeah, it kind of kills the novelty, but it also helps spread word of mouth and build good will in CA.

i would love to know what kind of breakout they have in outdoor refrigeration for the 60 degree weather in LA at that time of the year.

Two outdoor games in the same stadium within a week? That's the very definition of killing the novelty. At least move the Devils Rags game to the Meadowlands.

Can't...Superbowl will be there the following week.

Well obviously you wouldn't do it on the same day as before, move it into February. At least it wouldn't be one after the other.

Because the Winter Classic is the one thing that generates interest outside of the hockey community. 6 games a year completely ruins that.

You will get NO argument from me on this thread.

If you're going to do outdoor games, you should have a MAX of 2 per season.

If I'm not mistaken, the Kings and the Rangers played an exhibition game on a parking lot in vegas a few years ago so if they could do it then, they can do it now.

An exhibition game is much less of an event and easy to cancel or reschedule if conditions don't cooperate. That same year, the league had to cancel an exhibition in North Carolina because the ice was unsafe.

Also amusingly enough, the lights in Vegas attracted a swarm of grasshoppers who kept jumping onto the ice and dying. http://www.reviewjournal.com/ron-kantowski/nhls-first-outdoor-game-was-icy-blast-caesars

Right but that was in 91. I would hope that the technoligy would improve in 20 years.
