very sad. great sportsman. Jerry sullivan, while not grating on me as much as others, struggles to find the level of honesty yet diplomacy of a larry felser.

          RIP, Larry.

Met him years back. Great guy and one of the last sportswriters from the greatest newspaper ever, the Buffalo Courier Express.

                RIP

One of the best beat writers in the league for a long time. Always even handed, not a homer or overly critical. He pretty much told it like it was. He was also instrumental in getting Joe DeLammilleure and Billy Shaw in the Hall, being a long time committee member and lobbying hard for those players. Too bad we don't have someone of his stature now or Andre Reed and maybe even Steve Tasker might be in.

Have a good rest, Larry. You deserve it, as well as the admiration of the fans you informed.

great Sports writer and he's in the Greater Buffalo Sports HOF, this was when the Buffalo News wasn't the "snooze" and there was something to actually read in the paper instead of having advertisements on almost every page like it is now! He was also a regular on Empire Sports Network FanTV with Howard Simon and Jim Brinson.

                        Re: Larry Felser has died

I read his columns my whole life and missed them when he retired. He wrote with authority but wasn't condescending or snarky like modern sportswriters. And unlike the current crop at the Buffalo News, he never made the story about himself.

                        Rest in peace, Larry.

Ralph Wilson saying goodbye to Larry:

“I am deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Larry Felser. Larry was there at the beginning of the American Football League and along with fellow reporters such as Will McDonough and others, played an important role in the growth of our league. He was the consummate professional—tough, but fair, and never one to shy away from clearly stating his opinion. I had tremendous respect for Larry and we developed a deep friendship that lasted throughout our lifetimes. We shared some great laughs over the years and that’s what I am remembering most today about Larry. I will truly miss him. My deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his lovely wife, Beverly, and their family.”
