Not sure how many of you have read of know Bud Elliott. He's one of the best FSU guys on the net and he's very well connected to the program. That being said he's not draft talent evaluator but he at least offers a good look at what Manuel was at FSU. Some of his write up is not kind to Manuel. Here is a sample;

I would not draft EJ Manuel with a top-50 pick. Someone will, of course, because they think they can be the one to take those tools and bring out the superstar player. His play on the field at Florida State was that of a third- or fourth-rounder. His team had a talent advantage over almost all opponents, and that helped to hide some of his flaws. He was a fine college quarterback whose numbers are better than his play.

Funny, Buddy Nix and Doug Marrone say almost the exact opposite.

OBD is really putting all of their eggs in one basket with this.

Yeah, Nix will be judged on the Manuel pick above everything else. I just hope for our sake he NAILED it.

The frustrating part of these inconsistencies is that they are so very inconsistent and appear seemingly at random.

Duh.... Ya think?

There were others that graded EJ as pretty decent...Here's a pretty decent & honest scouting report on him from Bleachers:

No, I think we should find all the negative evaluations and frame them as reasonable. Why concentrate on the guy's huge upside, intelligence, and character when you can take a courageous stand on what a fail OBD is and always will be?
