PITTSBURGH - Verron Haynes loves to run the ball. And now, he is getting a chance.
After learning both the fullback and running back positions as a rookie, Haynes focused on just running back during the teams coaching sessions and team school.
"I am focused more on one position this year and I am going to get the opportunity to run the ball, so everything is going well," said Haynes. “I am definitely excited about the chance to carry the ball. Oh yeah, definitely. I think that is my premiere position. I’m definitely excited about the opportunity. We’re going to have to see what happens.
“It is easier (one position), but it gives me a better grasp of the offense knowing what the fullback is doing on that particular play. I think I benefited a lot from it last year. I know the assignments and blocking the fullback is going to be doing.”
