Strictly on paper with nothing proven yet, this kind of reminds me of 1987 (7-9) with getting the roster staightened out. I'm fine with that. No unrealistic expectations.

Going in the right direction long term is all I'm asking. Growing pains in year 1 of a new coach is expected but as long as it progresses into 2014 and 2015 the proper way. They are actually making a solid effort to retool this roster, instead of the past method of putting band aids on something that isn't working with T.O. type signings.

This is still a 6 win team at best unless Marrone and Manuel ends up performing great in their first year. I don't care what the record is this year as long as we're competitive and Manuel is showing signs or playing well in his first year.

The difference between 6-10 and 10-6 is less than 2 dozen plays over the season. That level of parity can means that good coaching and good chemistry can carry a slightly under talented team into the playoffs. So if the new coaching staff are as good as they think they are, and the players buy in, yes this team can make the playoffs (provided it's not a weird year where all the 10-6 teams miss)

The conference championship teams usually have a different talent level, I don't see us there unless EJ is suddenly RG4.

That actually has a pretty good chance of happening this year as far as going .500 in the division. The Jets are going to really struggle this year. Even Jets beat writer Manish Mehta says they are a 5 win team at best heading into 2013. We could sweep them, take 1 from the Dolphins, and still lose both games to the Patriots. There's your .500. I'm not saying this will happen, but simply stating that it could. We could also go 0-6. lol
