The NFL draft is one of my favorite times of the year. Optimism abounds about the new players, and playoffs actually look like a possibility.
Unfortunately, this week's trade of Kelvin Sheppard serves as another reminder how poorly our picks have turned out. To put it simply, the past 3 drafts with Nix at the helm have ranged from "terrible" to "disappointing". Don't forget, a couple of those drafts received glowing reviews from the experts.
It's my opinion that each draft should produce at least 3 solid starters. By my count, Nix has only nabbed 4 in the past three drafts (Spiller, Dareus, Gilmore, Glenn). To be fair, the jury is still out on a couple players - most notably A. Williams, Searcy, Graham, Bradham and Brooks.
We cannot expect a playoff run until some of these guys start panning out.
