chandler insurance...

Hmm...

..."Shuler, a 6-4, 247-pound Penn State product, entered the NFL as a seventh-round (214th overall) draft choice of the Minnesota Vikings in 2010. He spent a portion of his rookie year with Minnesota and the Miami Dolphins and caught two passes for 44 yards in six games played with Miami. Shuler re-joined the Vikings in 2011 after being released by Cincinnati who claimed him off of waivers from Miami (9/4/11). He spent the final 11 weeks of the 2012 season on the Practice Squad of the Oakland Raiders."...

Looks like they paid five figures for 25 cents' worth of insurance coverage. :duh:

Can we still trade for Joe Klecko Jr?

Bloodlines.

Wouldn't those push him further down?

Well, we need tight ends.

Andrew Quarless was the primary TE that year (41 receptions). I'd bet Shuler was drafted because of his test numbers at his Pro Day:

4.62 40-yard dash (3rd)
37.5" vertical (3rd)
10'11" broad jump (1st)
4.25 shuttle (2nd)
6.70 3-cone drill (1st)
28 reps on the bench (2nd)
11.19 60-yard shuttle (1st)

In parentheses are where those numbers would have placed him at the NFL combine among tight ends, according to the linked article.

Are you serious? Mickey Shuler was a GOOD player. Played 12 years for the Jets & 2 more for the Eagles. You don't last 14 years in the NFL unless you are GOOD.

Looks like a better blocking tight end. Probably just camp fodder that won't ever pan out.

He was a 7th round pick who hasn't played in an NFL game since 2010 and has bounced through several teams. I don't know if he has any PS eligibility left, but it is hard to imagine him being more than a camp body.
