"In a stunning move, but one that he said came after "a lot of thought and consideration," Heisman Trophy winner and St. Louis Rams rookie receiver Eric Crouch is retiring from football."

:wail: Why do the nice guys like Eric retire and the *******s like Lawrence Phillips insist on continuing to make spectacles of themselves?

Let me get this straight: The Rams are willing to keep him on the roster because they believe he can develop into a good WR, yet he decides to give up that opportunity because he doesn't believe he can do it? What's wrong with this picture?

I agree Halbert........there's got to be more to the story than they're telling us.

If he was going to retire he could have done it in training camp, before the rams had to cut their team to 52 players.

Did you hear about the poor optometrist who fell into a lens-making machine & made a spectacle of himself?

I doubt it. I know I read somewhere he still thinks he should be a QB. Maybe Martz finally said, "No way." So he left?

I don't think he was developing very fast, and he wanted to be a starter. Martz made the comment about Crouch being "light years" from being ready for the nfl.

Actually from what i hear he retired so that the Rams would dump his contract and then he would sign with a team to make him a QB.
