I don't get it. What's the big development that they need to announce a "guaranteed" home date in January? What does "guaranteed" mean?

I get the FNC and Frontier Field announcement (very cool). The most interesting thing is that they will play in the Spengler Cup (uber cool).
Lehner's history. He just doesn't know it yet.

Re: Amerks release their first 6 home dates

If I remember right, teams usually announce the dates of 5 or 6 of their home games a few weeks in advance of the full schedule being released. This has been standard operation procedure with the AHL for the past few seasons. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and the Texas Stars have also announced their first 6. The full schedule won't be out for another month for a couple of reasons: 1. Some AHL teams share their arena with NBA teams. 2. There usually is some NHL coordination to do.

As for the Frontier Field game, that's been known for months.
