At some point last week, it became clear that John Tortorella was going to coach the Vancouver Canucks (http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2013-06-21/john-tortorella-canucks-coach-alain-vigneault-rangers). Perhaps it was at the airport. <iframe width="320" height="320" class="vine-embed" src="https://vine.co/v/hugVq6a6wwD/embed/simple" frameborder="0"></iframe>

On Tuesday, though, all that becomes official. The Canucks have called a 4 p.m. ET press conference at which Tortorella, fired earlier in the offseason (http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2013-05-30/John-Tortorella-fired-Rangers-coach-search-Sather-Ruff-Vigneault-Nash-Lundqvist) by the New York Rangers, will be introduced as Vancouver's new coach.

is that a good or bad thing for VAN?, .... I see the Sedin's punching him in his dome the first time he opens his mouth after a loss.

Based on the way he coaches, I would say it isn't good for VAN. He doesn't have the team if he wants everyone to be blocking shots all the time and collapsing to the net. However, if he can motivate some of the guys that were kind of stagnant under AV, I think he can do alright. This is still a playoff caliber team with a goalie and D corps to rival anyone in the league.
