No matter who said otherwise—at first the Philadelphia Flyers (http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2013-06-25/The%20Flyers%20will%20have%20to%20pay%20Bryzgalov%20two-thirds%20of%20the%20balance%20owed%20on%20his%20remaining%20term,%20or%20%2423%20million,%20but%20will%20have%20twice%20as%20long%20to%20pay%20it%20off.%20As%20such,%20the%20Flyers%20will%20pay%20Bryzgalov%20approximately%20%241.643%20million%20per%20year%20for%20the%20next%2014%20years%20to%20not%20play%20for%20them.), then his agent (http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2013-06-22/nhl-inside-dish-kanye-west-kim-kardashian-baby-ilya-bryzgalov-hnic-montage)—Ilya Bryzgalov always seemed guaranteed for a buyout. Math is math, and the salary cap is the salary cap, and Philly is Philly, and Bryz is Bryz. On Tuesday, that came to pass. The Flyers announced that they're using their second and final cap compliance/amnesty buyout on the goaltender, which means that his $5.667 salary cap hit comes off the books in exchange for two-thirds of his remaining contract spread over double the term.

That means Philadelphia will pay Bryzgalov $1.643 million per year for the next 14 years to go away. http://www.sportingnews.com/nhl/story/2013-06-25/ilya-bryzgalov-buyout-bought-out-philadelphia-flyers-nhl-free-agency-steve-mason
