The team re-signed center Patrick Marleau to a two-year contract on Friday and signed two others.

Marleau, 23, signed a deal "in the neighborhood of $2.4 million per year," according to the team's Web site. Marleau posted career highs in goals (28), assists (29) and points (57) in 82 games last season.

The Sharks also signed 19-year-old center Marcel Goc and re-signed defenseman Rob Davison, 23, who had four points and 82 penalty minutes in 42 games with AHL Cleveland last season.

"We're building some momentum here and have advanced discussions with other players also," said general manager Doug Wilson, who hopes to have everyone signed by training camp. "To me, training camp has already started. ... My ultimate goal is to have this not be a distraction, to get everybody in camp and have these contracts addressed way in advance."

Marleau has scored at least 20 goals the past three seasons. He helped Canada to a gold medal at this summer's World Championships in Finland.

Montreal Canadiens: The team signed Russian forward Alexander Perezhogin to a three-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal were not released.

Perezhogin, 19, was selected 25th overall in the 2001 draft. In 48 games with Omsk of the Russian league last season, he had 15 goals and six assists.

He also helped Russia win the gold medal at the world junior championships.

Perezhogin was second in team scoring with nine points in six games at the world juniors, including two assists in the gold medal game against Canada.

Should be interesting to watch Perezhogin playing in the NHL. He's played on a line for the last two years on the Russian World Junior team with Stanislav Chistov, who could make anyone look good. Either he'll show himself as a great individual talent, or a system player.
