When the Buffalo Sabres traded captain Jason Pominville (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/1501/jason-pominville) to Minnesota last season (http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/03/trade-pominville-goes-to-wild/), many looked at it as the start of an overdue rebuild . While GM Darcy Regier didn’t agree with that insinuation (http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/03/sabres-gm-doesnt-want-to-use-r-word-after-pominville-trade/), the prospects that deal brought back (Johan Larsson and Matt Hackett) helped enrich an already exciting group of NHL hopefuls.
Don’t believe it? Take a look at Hockey’s Future who, before this year’s draft, ranked the Sabres as having the eighth best group of prospects in the league (http://www.hockeysfuture.com/team-rankings/). When you look at some of the best prospects, Buffalo is poised to make some noise down the road.

Sabres have always had great prospects but it has never translated to the present.

The current pool is much deeper than anything we've had in years, maybe even ever. The re-build looks promising.

Need some depth on the wing but our defense pool is loaded and centers look pretty solid as well.

exactly. the list of talented players that come through the farm system to the big stage usually get slaughtered.

Make or break for Ennis this year. He has to get 70 points this year.

And I know, I know, the biggest unknown is still Myers. If he sucks, then ugh. He is still a prospect, so young.

It seems that for the last 10 years I've been reading how our junior/minor league drafted players are the best... but then they only progress so far.
Many would have a shot at making this years squad, since they seem to have hit rock bottom.

Our prospect pool hasn't been this highly regarded in awhile. It's actually not even close.

I think the Sabres have had the best group of third and fourth line prospects for the last ten years.

The problem with hearing about prospects is it's usually from the Team who isn't going to tell you they are garbage.

So tired of talking about prospects.

Wake me up when we can talk about actual production on the ice.
