Blatnick continues strong training camp
- The way outside linebacker Jamie Blatnick has at times dominated his competition on the field during training camp, it's going to be very hard for the Bills to not include him on the 53-man roster. Blatnick won a pair of attempts during one-on-one's against the offensive line quite easily. On his first try he whipped around left tackle Thomas Welch with a speed rush, even making the big tackle fall to the ground in trying to catch up to him. On a later attempt, Blatnick made third-team left tackle Zebrie Sanders look foolish as well.

Jerry Hughes is listed as Mario Williams backup at DE, but he's been the training camp MVP.

Behind Jerry Hughes is Jamie Blatnick, third string DE.

But the Bills aren't going to be running a 4-3!

Manny Lawson and Nigel Bradham are listed as the starting linebackers.

he has played well against the starters, although a limited amount and only in practice. but watching him, he lost a lot of weight, almost 30lbs, and looks dangerously quick off the ball...

They are going to be running a hybrid defense. Not a true 4-3 or a true 3-4. We have to wait and see how it will play out, but it should be interesting.

Blatnick and Hughes have have received a lot of media praise this summer, but it's been mostly because of their pass rushing skills, Pettine may be using them as "pass rushing specialist" and have them out there is passing situations and have Bradham and Lawson out there in the base defense, they may be better run stoppers. I don't know, I haven't been to camp, so I'm just guessing as to why the depth chart is the way it is now. What ever it is, both Blatnick and Lawson have been giving the o-line fits with their pressure on the QB's.

Nice to hear, but this is always one of those situations where you don't know if the player is actually decent or if the players he's facing are that bad.

Guess we'll have to see. I can't wait for football to actually start.

And seriously- are we that impressed by people burning Welch and Zebrie Sanders? There is another thread about how bad our OL is, but now we are acting like we have something special because a LB smoked out terrible T's.

I'll be impressed if they do it against better competition.
