Part of me wants to watch the game from beginning to end since it's been eight months since the last Bills game and I don't really care about any other teams or sports. The other part of me knows that it's preseason, it's going to be silly from the second quarter on, and it's supposed to be 75 and sunny tomorrow.

I think the O-line will be alright, I know Levitre was good and at first we may notice it, but if there is any spot on the O-line where I feel comfortable about plugging someone new into, it would be LG, mainly because they'll be between our two best linemen in Wood and Glenn. Also running this fast pace and our linemen being in condition to do it will be an advantage.

EJ Manuel will be who I'm most interested in seeing, he doesn't have to go out there and light it up, he just needs to look like he knows what he's doing out there and that he belongs out there. Next is Kiko Alonso, I want to see him out there creating chaos for the offense.

What I have thought so far.

Kiko Alonso is making a very positive impression. Other than Mario, the rest of the defense is not. 33 is getting a schooling and they're beating him like a rented mule. Tackling is so sloppy, I've seen so many IND plays get 5, 10 extra yards because a Bills D-man couldn't wrap him up and bring him down. It's as if they're playing bumper cars.

On O, offense is looking OK for as fresh as they are. RBs are at full speed, and that's very good. Robert Woods is not ready.

i just think the defense is showing signs of life it didn't last year. there is a pass rush. people get their hands up to knock balls or tip. there are different people bringing it on the blitz...and they have been playing consistently as offense is quick pace but not doing anything. They also seem a little more cerebral to diagnose plays as they are happening (specifically the screens)

they suck on 3rd downs which i'll let go in pre-season. i like what i'm seeing. it has to get better and the fact there are so many bodies is covering up the bills offense fast pace and lack of production. could the starters run a full first half with very little rest? i don't think that's possible

cons: everything is 4-5 yard throws
not very imaginative (though you wouldn't expect that in preseasn week 1)

pros: taking what they can get.

So far I've seen flashes of good play, but then sometimes seeing the same old Bills. That play early on where Brooks forced the fumble...it was still an awful play. Fumbles are so flukey, you can't count on them, but the fact that they not only let up a 3rd and long (15?), but Searcy missed the tackle there too - not good. I thought Manny Lawson had some good plays.

I agree with DB, EJ looks awfully nervous. I'd like to see him get into a rhythm and throw more than just the Gailey passes (within 10 yards). Honestly, I do like the fact that he can run, kind of nice to have a QB who might be able to do something even if he can't throw it.

Goodwin looks great on ST's, sure hope he can translate that to offense too.

i get the frustration of watching EJ keep throwing short, but he looked very nervous to start the game, and i think it's good to get him comfortable throwing the short stuff that he's going to need to make routinely during season. let's see how the rest of the preseason goes. If he opens week 2 of ps with consistent 10 yard passing, then it's coming along.

if he stays like this all pre-season, the project will take a longer period of time to get him up to speed.

based on other bills qbs in the last 10 years, nothing to really complain about.

Agreed. Though Gragg still should have caught the ball, IMO. Tuel needs to see that Gragg has all that open space and hit him early so he can RAC.
