Harris, the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers and his group received approval from the NHL's Board of Governors on Wednesday, according to Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record (https://twitter.com/TGfireandice/status/367785268750716928). A news conference will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., according to Gulitti (https://twitter.com/TGfireandice/status/367785357481242624).
Harris' group will pay over $320 million (https://twitter.com/TGfireandice/status/367787633339953153) for the team and the operating rights to the Prudential Center, according to Gulitti. Current owner Jeff Vanderbeek is more than $200 million in debt and has been expected to sell the team for at least some time. The transaction has been fast tracked over the last few weeks.
