No surprise. You don't draft a kicker and then cut him. I liked rian too

hes been here since the dawn of time it seems. pretty reliable but not spectacular.

Best wishes to a class act.

I could care less what others think...next to Christie, he was our best kicker for a very long time. He was great signing, back in the day.

His time has come and gone, he was some nice stability during a time that we really lacked it. Hopkins looks good though.

Once those 38 Yard FG's became potluck, it was time to let him go.

Unless you needed a FG from an NFL distance for the most part.

Our whole kicking game is now in the hands (and feet) of Florida State Seminoles. Long snapper Sanborn, punter (and holder) Powell and kicker Hopkins.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Well, he was the Bills only kicker for a very long time.

He has had a steady decline for years.

Nowhere near as good as Christie or Norwood.

Does this mean we won't be punting from inside the 40 any more?

He seemed like a good guy....but I still hate him because of that 49ers game in '08.

For such a big guy you would have thought he could boom the ball into the end zone with no problem, but that was never the case.

Since we're not expecting to go to the AFC championship this year, we should use the season to develop the younger kicker for when we go to the sb next year.

                              Not much of a surprise.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                              It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
