Call me crazy but I am excited to see Leinart play. I am not expecting much but I think he can actually earn a spot of this roster.

I didn't see any of his play in Oakland but that brief appearance he had in Houston he looked like he had found a groove. I think his biggest problem has always been arrogance. And he's clearly been humbled.

But long story short Kolb has been awful in every sense of the word. I wouldn't be opposed to Leinart if he can show he has something left in the tank.

I am with you. I have said that Kolb is Fitz with a little better arm.

Leinart may be better than both of them. If he plays decent tonight, I think the Bills will put Kolb on IR for the year.

I think you're right, he can throw the football, but his head has never been there, he came out of Southern Cal a Heisman trophy winner and thought he was the **** and wanted to be a playboy more than an NFL QB. If his head is on straight, I think he's a much better option than Kolb as the teams #2 QB.

Leinart was a myth at USC. The team was stacked when he was there and their skill made him look a lot better than he was. I am not a fan of Kolb at all and I didn't like the move, but he's still better than Leinart.

And anyway, Leinart only had 3 days to learn the playbook so it isn't even a fair test.

Me too. I've always thought that he never really got a fair chance at being a starter. Injuries and the Kurt Warner resurgence kinda put him on the back burner.

His biggest problem is lack of arm strength and getting the ball out too late. He has pretty good size and athleticism, but he can't make power throws into tight windows and takes too long to diagnose the defense and get the ball out. As a result, he tends to check down a lot. He isn't a very good NFL QB.

And that's where this becomes interesting.

Kolb is 16-26 61% for 131 yards 0 TD's 1 INT with a QB rating of 59.

It's reasonable to think that in one half tonight not knowing the offense, Leinart could eclipse those numbers. Now there's zero chance he would start against NE, and they're going to run the most basic packages tonight. But if Leinart can do even close to this, with the 3's and 4's out there. How is he not in the discussion to make this roster over Kolb.

Oh and I totally agree with you about Leinart at USC, the program made him look much better than he is. His Oline gave him days, the gameplan was built around Bush. But his receivers from the 04-05 season were hardly elite. Most of them never really made it in the NFL.

Hard to imagine Kolb on the roster at all, no matter who does what. His eggs were scrambled so bad that he didn't even know his own name after the game. Given his past history with concussions, he is a likely IR candidate.

Do you remember Tarvaris Jackson's play when they first signed him? Heck, look at Leinart's tonight. Horrendous.

You cannot send a quarterback into a game, even a vanilla preseason game, with as little preparation time as Leinart and Lewis have had. If Tuel goes into the Patriots game next week they probably have 95% chance of losing. If Tuel goes down, too, that number shoots up to 100%, point-spreads in Vegas will shoot up to levels unseen in pro ball and bettors will still put their money on the Pats-- and win.

They were definitely trying to win the first couple games. They had most of their starters in the entire first half while the other team had most of their backups in by the 2nd quarter at the latest. That and we were blitzing more then you see in the preseason. Now that they're not trying to win while the other team isn't we're getting killed.

The 3rd preseason game is the dress rehearsal where most teams try and that's the one that was unwatchable. Amazing what happens when the other team is actually trying some and playing their starters against yours.

Like how we played our starters most of the first half while the Colts and the Vikings didn't play some of their starters and had their QB's out of the game after a series or two? I guess them ones count but the bad ones don't.

It's also not like the Lions had all of their starters in and them ones weren't in very long. Stafford only threw 6 passes and Bush and Calvin Johnson were nowhere to be seen. Their two early TD's was with Shaun Hill and not Stafford. They are still killing us long after the starters our out of the game. Last time I checked Leinart isn't playing defense either.

It's just like last week the Redskins had Rex Grossman(3rd string) and Pat White(won't make the team) as their QB's and they still killed our starters on defense. You can't have it both way no matter how nice it would be.

I've always said I could care less about the preseason results. Just be consistent and don't make excuses when the Bills lose but then they are meaningful games when they win with most of our starters playing the entire first half. I guess that's the mindset of too many around here though.

The thing I'm hanging onto, is that they played the first 2 preseason games not necessarily to win, but how they intend to play, and they just happened to win well. I think I was more excited with the effort and what I figured were their schemes and philosophy.

Marrone does not mince words. I'll give him that, but his guys are either out of gas, don't want it enough, or they just plain suck.

Brad Smith has no place on this team, especially while he's still making $1.5 Million after taking a cut.

I said in a different thread, I would take either Grossman or White when the Skins make their cuts.

Leinart can go back home. And yeah, I know he has not had a real chance with the Bills.

And many players in this game will not be on the Bills or Lions after this game.

That's the same late in any preseason game. Same with the first couple games. We played our starters much longer then the Colts or Vikings did and yet we barely beat the Vikings.

I don't take much stock into preseason results and I'm playing devils advocate. The same people who said we were good after the first two preseason games are now either making excuses for the past couple or they act like they don't matter. It's called a double standard by the blind ones.

Fugly. I know we're vanilla, but do these guys possess any talent? We need CB's bad. I don't know if any coaching scheme can overcome this.

45 yards of offense. Do we have any receivers that can get open?

Well, I enjoyed those two wins, but will take them for what they were PRESEASON wins over two good teams.

It is for real next week.

So the Bills 2 new quarterbacks who just learned the playbook and won't start week 1 suck.

Can't believe I didn't see that one coming.

Preseason didn't matter in them two games. Even if we were playing our starters for 30 minutes while they played theirs for maybe 10 minutes. Not to mention not even playing all of their guys like Peterson, etc.

So, how many players are we ALLOWED to cut?

I would cut 99% of the players in todays game.

The Bills are going to have to watch a lot of tape from other teams to find a at least one DB and a couple O-linemen.

How bad were Leinarts INT's? Like, straight to the defender bad, thrown in to oblivion bad, off the receivers hands bad or "why is this guy in an NFL uniform" bad?

Sigh. A 30 yard in the air pass with 7 minutes left. If it was a designed play, why would you run that and piddle away evaluation time? :wtf:

Thad Lewis should be our week 1 starter if EJ can't go.

Didn't watch the game but looked at his line plus he actually looked like he belonged at the NFL level against the Steelers D last year.

Tuel or Lewis we ain't beating the Pats but still.
