It's probably just as well. On gameday, if he gave up a 5 yd slant route, this board would explode and say he sucks and should retire, because he's just washed up.

The legend that is Antoine Winfield never ceases to amaze me. The guy was an average CB at best. The only reason he gets such praise is because he was a small guy who was a thumper. I'll stand by saying that letting him walk and keeping Nate Clements was a wiser decision.

And he hated Buffalo,NY. The guy had no desire to be here. He bolted as fast as he could. I remember when he was a rookie and was complaining how his wife hated the area, and that there was nothing to do.

The legend that is Antoine Winfield never ceases to amaze me. The guy was an average CB at best. The only reason he gets such praise is because he was a small guy who was a thumper. I'll stand by saying that letting him walk and keeping Nate Clements was a wiser decision.

It's certainly the excuse we use to start hating on our home grown guys. "Sure Levitre was OK, I mean he was overrated and not worth his contract, but he didn't want to be in Buffalo anymore so **** him."

Just swap in what ever name you want. Except Kelsay.

Neither did I. Been there many times. It's a lot cleaner city than Buffalo. I'm sure playing in a dome was attractive as well.

I always liked Winfield, hated to see him go, but I'm not sure they could have signed him.

when he left, it was in the days that the cap really mattered. (As it just started to again in the last year).

Teams really did have to purge rosters and restructure contracts to meet the cap at the time.

The Bills had just signed Spikes, Adams and Milloy the year before, had Bledsoe on the roster and were paying a ton for Mike Williams.

He ended up nearly $6 million a year from the Vikings, a little more than Spikes got the year before.

I don't think the Bills were being cheap with him, they just didn't have the cap space. i think everyone knew it at the time.

Average at best?

He'll retire not giving up a touchdown pass in his last 3 seasons. If anything the guy is underrated outside of Minn/Buffalo. Tell a Vikings fan he's average at best and you'll get laughed at in your face.

That's not what I'm saying and it's not an excuse. I also don't blame or hate players that go elsewhere, except Magahee and Peters. We took a chance on Willis, rehabbed him and then he ****ed us. Peters the same way, we developed him as a tackle and then got his panties in a wad.

I'm happy the Titans were willing to give Levitre a windfall. Good for him. However, I wouldn't have paid him that much either.
