Once again, the Bills do something that makes no sense at all

They cut their roster down to 50. Why do that?

Sure I get the idea that they are going to fill those spots with players cut by other teams (or, in theory, via trade). And I am sure there are better players out there than they had on their roster.

But why cut these guys now before you actually sign the new players? There is no reason to make the extra moves now. Keep the roster and cut whomever the last 3 cuts were once you actually get awarded the waiver claim, make the trade or sign the free agent. By letting the guys go now, you create a situation where you might lose the player you want (via a team ahead of them in the waivers pecking order) and maybe lose the player you had through camp if he gets claimed.

It is just illogical and dumb.

Two things this team is good at

Other teams do that. The Pats cut down to 51 and haven't picked anyone up yet.

I think it comes down to position. If you only have a few good CB, you aren't going to keep an extra guy who you think isn't worth the roster spot. You are going to cut below the limit and look to find someone worthy of a roster spot for one reason or another (ST, potential, etc.). Teams are always churning the bottom of their roster, which is made up of guys who won't dress on game-day.

Is OP wearing off on you? This is nothing worth *****ing about. Three bums who were going to be cut anyway should of been kept on the roster for one more day? Plenty of legit reasons to criticize This ain't one of them

it's more than just about the team needs. If they know they don't want the guys they did the right thing. Hanging onto them is rude. Now they are out there and have a better chance to get on another team. This is something that effects the internal culture of the team...something that has been decimated by shotty douchbags for years.

Sorry Doc, but I disagree with you here. I think it is a good move to let the guys go now and look to fill up your practice squad up now. With. All the people being cut, a few more fringe guys are going to make no difference in the grand scheme of things.

Unless Legursky's injury isn't as major as they thought, they have 0 reserve interior linemen, and frankly, 2 starters who should be reserves.

Good thing they extended Wood, since they'll be expecting him to cover 3 positions.

Good point I didn't think of. Why let a guy get all excited that he made the team only to crush him the next day. Cut them if you know you don't want them.

Disagree bro. I think its so they can find jobs quicker and also try to sneak a player or two through to practice squad

Fernando Velasco was released by the Titans.

Started for them last year at center, signed a 2nd round tender earlier this spring.

We could do a lot worse.

Legursky might be put on the IR with intent to return list. Yet you're right we have to sign someone to backup the interior O-line and also think we need a depth DE too.

That makes sense, because he would need to be on the final roster first before being given the IR-Return designation. The only thing is the team only gets to use it once, and I would wonder if he is a good enough player to use it on. What if one of their key players gets a 8-10 week injury early in the year? They would have to carry them or IR them if they use it on Legursky.
