i dont get this anymore. why have grigs on the team if you arent going to give him top 6 minutes with decent line mates. at that point, send him back to the Q. hes not ready, and he cant go to the AHL. im very concerned this team is stunting his growth. some guys are ready at 19, most are not. dont force it.

They tried to force Grigs last year and now they are trying to force him again this year.

Just let the kid develop in juniors already.

thank you! some kids just arent ready to make the jump so fast. grigs has the talent, he apparently has the work ethic (he spent most off season training in buffalo) hes just not read yet.

im happy larsson is getting time though.

and another thing. dont dress scott unless you need him against a hard hitting, physical team. let someone else take his spot and let them grow. larsson and grigs do us no good in the pressbox, or on the 4th line with scott and kelata or mccormick.

“You have to find a way to be an impact in a game,” coach Ron Rolston said. “It’s his ability to put himself in positions where he can use those skills. That means you’ve got to go to the puck, you’ve got to get the puck, you’ve got to support the puck, you’ve got to be around the puck, you’ve got to battle for the puck. You can stickhandle in a phone booth and that doesn’t really translate unless you can be an impact on the game.

“He’s a young player. He’s still learning those things and how to do that, be impactful at this level, and how that’s changed from junior hockey to pro hockey. It’s a learning process.”
Grigorenko’s ice time has steadily dwindled through the opening four games, bottoming out at 8:07 during a 3-2 overtime loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He has no points and only five shots, including none against the Lightning.

“Obviously, I didn’t have as much time as the first couple games, but it’s up to coach,” Grigorenko said. “At this time of the game, he probably would rather put out other guys. We almost won the game, so I’ll just keep working and hopefully I’ll get back my ice time.”
Rolston has not been enamored with the Russian, who was selected 12th overall in the 2012 NHL draft. The coach has repeatedly knocked Grigorenko’s lack of competitiveness.

“It’s getting there, but it needs to continue to improve,” Rolston said. “That’s that last hurdle for him. That’s something that he’s going to work on.”

Well, Ron, hate to break it to you...but the way you're yo-yo'ing Grigs' ice time and moving him to the 3rd and 4th lines isn't helping matters.

That's positively Lindy-esque at his worst.

I might be in the minority here, but I really just see nothing in this kid, and don't think he'll make it in the NHL.

its possible at this point. his passing is supposedly tape to tape awesome, and has a great awareness in the offensive end (and i hear hes working defensively) however, his skating is suspect. maybe he wont make it. if the sabres dont handle him properly, he wont.

This team needs to learn how to run a breakout before it does anything else.
