    Lions' Elliss suffers torn chest muscle

    After being hampered in recent seasons by elbow problems and a surfing mishap that required facial repairs, Luther Elliss apparently still has not exhausted his run of bad luck.

    The Lions' eight-year veteran defensive tackle is likely to miss much of training camp and the exhibition season after suffering a pectoral injury two weeks ago while working out at his off-season home in Utah.

    "He tore it," Lions president Matt Millen said Sunday. "We brought him in and checked him, we ran all the tests. It'll restrict him but he should be ready to go for the season; we'll just have to bring him along a little slower early."
