Moulson is a UFA after this season, don't be surprised if they trade him at the deadline for more picks. Don't go buying Moulson jerseys.

I think we got as much as we could. Vanek is not a building block. He is a player who needs to franchise player playing on his line in order to thrive.

we obviously don't have that.

and getting two high draft picks and a player for someone who was gone anyways... it's a good deal for us.

That Isles #1 pick may very well be in the top 10; granted, there's a LOT of hockey to play.

its a GREAT deal. odds are, the islanders will sneak in, lose in the first round, and vanek walks. so the 1st is 15-21. thats a nice spot. the second is a second, a good pick. moulson is a 30 goal scorer who can be resigned or traded for more picks or prospects. i expect him to go at the deadline to a team like detroit maybe for their first.

wouldnt it be something to resign moulson, and sign vanek in free agency? pipedream, i know.

depends on what you mean by hit on. i mean, at that point, its not a sure thing, but odds are you are going to get an impact player at that range. top 6 forward, top 4 dman, stuff like that. pysyk, armia, ennis are mid firsts to later firsts.
