View Full Version : It's time to start trading our players away

I love the effort yesterday but we're going nowhere, let other teams that might succeed start giving us draft picks for our "talent". Byrd needs to depart, I wouldn't pay him a nickel if I was in charge. Hughes is a worthless individual, take a 7th if we can. Send Fred Jackson out for a 3rd-4th, heart of the team isn't getting younger.

We need to rebuild now, even Spiller can take his sensitive toes to a new team for the right price. It's all on the table, who wants some ??

PS Past KC, the ticket sales are over this year. Nobody is going to sit in the cold to watch a losing team, 13+ years a running.

I'm a believer that the team is holding weak cards right now, you witnessed how far we are from winning it all yesterday right ?? It's not one or two guys, it's a dozen. They aren't going to come to us in FA either.

Dude, you want to get rid of arguably one of, if not THE best offensive player we have? This team has many problems. But Im pretty sure Freddy and bench grinder Jerry Hughes are not our problems.

Go away.

Did you think we had much of a shot against the Saints with Thad Lewis starting at QB, our best playmaker out, our backup RB at about 80% or less, etc etc etc...we are headed in the right direction. I can agree with shipping off Byrd, hes gone anyways, but we are already in rebuilding mode, why re-start a rebuilding process when its not even complete?

I want to win & we had no chance to win, that's why we need to change our players.

I really think the difference between the Saints and Bills was QB. Overall I felt Buffalo is a better team than New Orleans if you take the QBs out of the equation. No need to get rid of players.

We have a few holes but so does every team. This team needs good play out of its QB. Lewis will never be a good QB. No one knows for certain about Manuel. If Manuel can be a good QB this will be a good team.

Plus 2 real WRs & a tight end on offense, Stevie gutting it out made my nearly vomit. Dan D is like oh what a player to guy it out, yeah how about being healthy enough to play so we can win. Excuses don't win game, players win games.

A healthy Stevie would not have won the game yesterday.

A healthy EJ might have.

But it would be STUPID to trade Hughes or Fred. Chances are the player you draft with the pick you get for either would not be as good as either.

And I doubt you could get a 3rd or 4th for a 30 year old Fred Jackson. Hell, we only got a 4th for Lynch.

You do realize that Hughes is actually having a very good season, right? This team has problems, but pressure from Hughes is not one of them. If you're talking about that one play where Hughes, a 255 lbs pass rushing LB, was left chasing Kenny Stills, the 4.34 40 speed WR down the sideline, then you are right. He will always be useless in that effort. I don't think it was supposed to be his coverage though. Somebody blew an assignment and Hughes was left chasing as the next closest guy.

Thad Lewis' protecting the ball and inaccuracy were the huge issues. Also, Drew Brees' ability to throw darts past Robey's earhole was impressive. Rodgers did the same last night in his TD pass to Jordy Nelson. We have to hope that EJ is able to develop that type of accuracy, or at least something remotely close to that. I love love Lewis' toughness and I think he's a fun backup that adds a slight change of pace, but the mental farts are not inspiring. He's tough and takes shots, but many are his own fault.

The Bills have been so bad at retaining talent for so long that we aren't sitting on a ton of older guys worth shipping out. We have a whopping 5 players on this team over 30, and two of them were signed this year as fill-ins. There's zero point in dealing out a 25 year old like Hughes for a pick.

What "dozen" players need to be replaced for us to be a playoff team?

Assuming EJ Manuel develops into a solid franchise QB... I see LG (Legursky) and WLB (Moats) as our only real weak spots in the starting lineup. I think we also need another playmaker at WR or TE, a better pass rusher opposite Mario, and some depth at CB. I would also consider options for upgrading Urbik and Pears, but both guys are solid.

Those are holes that can be fixed in a single offseason. Your plan is to trade away the strongest part of our team (both RBs), dump our Pro Bowl safety and get rid of a good pass-rush specialist for a 7th rounder?

Mr. Pink
10-28-2013, 01:15 PM
Unless you can trade a plethora of stuff for a real QB, there's no point.

What are you gonna do, make a bunch of lateral moves that are meaningless?

Perfect. I want to say that I hope you realized what you typed, but it doesn't even matter.

The Bills aren't smart enough to get rid of high priced talent...just players that will be high priced because they have talent. The people that are on their second contract are demigods on a perennial 6 win team. You can't trade them...

We need to replace all the older "talent" with younger talent by player trade or draft picks, that's the mindset at OBD. You heard it here first & I'm getting ripped for it. NFL network reported it as well, a 27 year old pro bowler is too old right now & we want a younger talent. How does that fair for a 33 year old (RB) Fred Jackson you ask? How many 33 YO starting RBs are playing right now?

Publicly it's all love but privately the Bills want to get younger as reported, shooting the messenger doesn't change these facts. Would you rather have a 23 year old very talented guy at their position or a 33 YO RB? Which will last longer or give you more years at their position? The desire to become younger is a organizational effort, we're the 3rd youngest team in case you missed it.

The Bills are already the third youngest team in the league. They privately "want to get younger" according to whose imagination? There are only five players over 28 on the active roster.

And nobody is getting rid of Freddie. Don't be stupid. Not only is he still a very good player, but he brings SO much more to the table in terms of leadership, heart, attitude, and other intangibles. He's an excellent influence to the other players on this team. They elected him Captain.

BillsFever21

As much as I like Fred if somebody came calling with a 3rd round pick I would take it. He isn't getting any younger and each year the RB is losing a step or is more injury prone. It feels like it's only a matter of time before he's done for the season like the past two years. Nobody would offer a 3rd round pick for him unless they were desperate for a RB this season though.

We could use that extra 3rd round pick to draft a RB to compliment Spiller next year and possibly be his replacement if we don't re-sign him. I would miss Jackson but on a team that isn't going anywhere this season it would make sense if somebody offered it. He just doesn't fit into any long-term plans with his age and his time is almost up. It would never happen though.
