DALLAS -- Former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Deion Sanders is battling an automotive shop over what he says Jesus told him to pay for a repair bill.

The owner of the repair shop says Sanders wanted to pay only $1,500 of the $4,265.57 bill, saying Jesus had informed him that was all he needed to pay.

"It's the 'Praise Jesus' discount," attorney Ed Edson told The Dallas Morning News in Monday's editions....

Okay, we know that Deion Sanders currently isn't playing in the NFL. But since he's now free and clear, we expect him to sign with a Super Bowl contender just before the end of the regular season. So anything he does technically is still newsworthy.

Besides, it's otherwise pretty damn slow right now in the N.F. of L.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the D-back formerly known as Prime Time is getting sued by a Dallas-area repair shop for a measly $4265 bill. The shop performed the work on Sanders' 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible in 2001.

Sanders is willing to pay $1500 for the work, claiming that Jesus told him he need not pay anything more than that.

"It's the 'Praise Jesus' discount," said attorney Ed Edson, who represents the repair shop.

Trial starts Monday in Dallas County civil court.

The suit alleges that Sanders took the keys and the invoices when the car was delivered to him, started the car to make sure it was working, and then went inside his house with the keys and invoices and locked the door.

Then Sanders' bodyguards and housekeepers allegedly parked their cars around the vehicle, so that it could not be towed back to the shop.

Sanders then came to the repair shop, offered a $1500 check, and said, "Praise Jesus . . . I follow in my heart what I'm told to pay."

Through Court filings, Sanders has denied the allegations. Stay tuned.

A judge ruled Monday in favor of Deion Sanders in a lawsuit over repairs made to his 1961 convertible, saying the former Dallas Cowboy paid the full amount he had authorized for the work.

The owner of the repair shop had sued Sanders, saying the former football player wanted to pay only $1,500 of the $4,265.57 bill. An attorney for business owner Phil Compton said he had been trying to collect from Sanders since 2001.

During the one-day trial, a representative for Sanders testified that he told Compton there was a $1,500 ceiling on the cost of repairs.
