LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Bears dramatically altered the complexion of their quarterback position this offseason by signing free agent Kordell Stewart and selecting Rex Grossman with the 22nd pick in the draft.
Stewart is a dangerous passer and runner who never missed a game due to injury in eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The athletic 6-1, 218-pounder started all 16 games three times in his career and twice led the Steelers to the AFC Championship Game.
While Stewart assumes the Bears' starting job, Grossman will be groomed as the third quarterback behind veteran backup Chris Chandler. One of the top draft prospects at his position, Grossman passed for 3,402 yards and 22 touchdowns last season as a junior at Florida....
