After a rough start, roster shuffling, and getting starters back from injury, Buffalo's pass D has improved quite a bit as the season has progressed. Currently they sit 17th, not great, but not terrible. This is still a very young team with a new scheme, and they have already pushed themselves to be among the top units when it comes to INTs, pressure, and sacks. We haven't seen anything of the sort in years.
I think most of us agree Robey was an amazing UDFA signing. "Mighty Mouse" has 10 deflections and a pick 6 on the season. He is still just 21, and Buffalo signed him to a 3 year deal. He has played in every game so far, and saw more snaps once it was obvious that Justin Rogers wasn't a fit. Since then, Robey has been on fire. Also, I said last season that McKelvin finally developed into a solid cover corner after years of frustration. The staff saw that and extended him. This season, before he got banged up, he was breaking up passes left and right with 7 in the first 2 games. Here are the 2012 numbers:
Yes, this is just one value, but it helps paint a picture. PFF's best numbers are their overall grade metrics, which I no longer have access to because I didn't re-up on the subscription, lol.
