Spikes and Posey the next Bennett and Talley?

If Takeo Spikes is the next Cornelius Bennett for the Buffalo Bills, then what does that make Jeff Posey? Darryl Talley?
With the signing of free agents Spikes and Posey, the Bills are hoping they can come close to recreating the dynamic 1-2 punch they had at outside linebacker during their Super Bowl run of more than a decade ago.

Spikes, the 13th overall pick of the 1998 NFL draft for the Cincinnati Bengals, has been a star since his rookie year. Unless the $32 million deal he signed with Buffalo goes to his head -- and he's not that kind of guy -- he's a given at left outside linebacker to take his game to an even greater level.

Posey, on the other hand, is not a sure thing on the right side, though his upside is huge. He also entered the league in 1998, but as an undrafted free agent out of Southern Miss who was converted from end to linebacker by the San Francisco 49ers.

Well, Spikes is close enough to Biscuit (quick, smart, all over the field) but you can't really make the direct comparison of Posey to Talley. Talley wasn't really much of a pass rusher, he was more of a rock solid all around LB who cleaned up very nicely behind Mr. Incredible - Bruce. Absolutely taking nothing away from Talley, though, he was steady and reliable as they come. I'm glad he finally got his ProBowl.

So they could end up a dynamic duo but with a different flavor. Posey still has a lot to prove, anyway, to be put in the same class as either of those guys.

More like Bennett and Paup than Bennett and Talley.
