Mike Pettine is not going anywhere this offseason

To give up that many points to the Falcons after the bye is inexcusable.

We are all pleasantly surprised to see how this defense has played this season FROM TIME TO TIME. It really showed us the potential. But I have to say they are very inconsistently. Maybe because the newness and the players have not fully integrated into this. Compared to the Jets defense which has a lot more consistentcy. More likely though, I think it's a mental toughness that the coaches has to install into the heads of the player. Doing great one week is fine, but doing it every week is expected.

I'm not harping too much on offense this season as I expected them to have difficult times with new you talent they try to develop. In truth, the offense has not played consistent from quarter to quarter, let alone game to game.

Mario turned it on for a play.. to get his sack.

the rest of the game he was invisible.

    Fool's Gold.

And yet when people list their draft wish list, it will be WR, TE, LG, OT..

You build the D first. Then the O.

Overall, I think the D gives good pressure, and makes a lot of big plays. I like the D....I feel they will only improve.

It's the 3 and outs on O that worry me.

No defense can play at that high level for 35-40 minutes.

Yeah he's staying put, which is good for us, despite yesterdays showing. We should be primed for a playoff run next year, and we'll need him to be at the top of his game for that.

                This..

It could be a product of the talent.. but I'll give them this off-season to rid themselves of the losing culture that permeates this franchise on both sides of the ball and get " their guys " , which is common practice of any coach after his first year. Learn who can play for you and make the needed changes.

Well we've learned that we can get a lot turnovers and pressure. That means that the talent is actually there.

The biggest thing our D needs to learn is how to step up at the end of the game and close it out.

                    Hopefully that comes with time.

I guess I have a little higher expectations from the D. For all practical purposes, the Bills D was/is following the Jets' path of building. In their starting lineup, they have invested 2 1st round and 2 (early) 2nd round picks. LB corp they have 2nd round pick (Kiko), 1st round pick (Lawson), and not a full time starter Hughes another 1st round pick. I don't even need to go to DL which features 1st overall, 3rd overall picks, etc. With that kind of talent invested, you would expect the D to carry you - in fairness, they did a few times this season, just not consistent enough for my liking.

He knocked down a pass 2 plays before that.

Otherwise he's been invisible for 4 games.

Did somebody steal his "AFC East 4th place" ring?

You need an offense that can control the clock a little better so the D doesn't get tired.

That's not to excuse the D for allowing the Falcons to suddenly figure out how to run the football - since they haven't done that well all year OR the fact that Roddy White decided he was an elite WR again but it's not surprising to see a D get gashed late in game when they've been on the field >35 minutes.
