What a farce. NFL has become pro wrestling. Shocker -- the Pats, down by 12 with 1:30 left, get at least 4-5 total bull**** calls to get them the win. A total screwjob.

Ref with bad call. I bet Owner or Head coach gave Ref a big tip :zb: after half time. It still Pat is a cheater

Yea, my buddy and I texted one another in shock how the Patriots once again received several BS calls to help win the game. I would be pissed if I was a Browns fan. However, been there many times as a Bills fan.

You had to watch the game to really experience it. It was obviously orchestrated for the Pats to win. Sorry, it may have been worse than the "Just Give it to Em" game. Wow.

All the Browns had to do was recover an onside kick.

This blaming officials crap is so beyond stupid.

The Browns flat out pissed away a victory.

Bullsnot.

I'm not a conspiracy guy and I don't think they did it intentionally, but all the Browns really had to do was play decent pass defense, and they did.

The ref who called the idiotic pi determined the outcome.

Pathetic. Predictable. Repeated.

The personal foul hitting a defenseless receiver was BS too...Edelman was hit in the shoulder and it was a solid but not cheap shot. The problem is Edelman is tiny so he fell harder than most receivers. The Patriots safety hit Jordan almost identically on the catch that set up the 58 yard FG attempt but since Jordan didn't go flying like Edelman because he is much bigger. Factor in the extra 15 yards on the personal foul and the phantom pass interference call and the refs did everything to help the Pats.

Whats beyond stupid is you thinking that the officials don't have any blame for the bull**** calls they make. It shouldn't come to the browns to have to recover an onside to win a game. A PI call to put a team a the 1 yard line will determine the out come of the game.

Absolutely false.

The Browns could have, oh I dunno, STOPPED the Pats on either of those 2 drives at the end of game or simply recovered an onside kick. One of those three things happening and the Browns win.

That doesn't even take into account they MISSED a FG at the very end that would have still won it.

Say "Hi' to the other ostriches while your head is buried in the sand.

No intentional grounding on Brady on the last drive. Personal foul on the TD for a hit on a "defenseless receiver." Ignoring the fact that Gostkowski touched the kick withing 10 yards, a 50-yard bull**** PI penalty that gave NE the game.

Browns player touched the ball first on the onside kick.

The PI penalty was BS, not saying it's not, but the Browns shouldn't have put themselves into that position in the first place.

That personal foul was meaningless.

I think the Browns want Bridgewater and probably in their best interest to lose. Would be a great situation for a rookie QB with (i) Gordon, (ii) Cameron and (iii) Thomas covering your blind side. Just need a mid-round pick at RB and they are good to go.

And not a thing in your post has anything to do with a ridiculous pi call.

You could make the same point on every single game..."All they had to do was...." and it would not matter.

The point is that the call was game determining and ridiculous when compared to other calls never made.

The point is the refs make baffling calls every week, in every game, against every team...if you subject yourself to one of those calls biting you in the ass, that's your own fault for making it come down to that.

And again, the PI doesn't matter if the Browns stop the Pats from scoring after it or they make their FG.

Blaming the refs is absolutely pathetic in my opinion.

But the Browns DID stop the Pats from scoring and then the refs gave it to them anyway.

They didn't.

The pass interference was on a 1st and 10 play. It went onside kick, PI, TD Edelman.

And the Pats drive before that, the unnecessary roughness was after the TD on a 3rd and goal at that.

And the onside kick was touched by a Brown before being recovered.

Or making a FG.

It comes down to making a play, the Browns didn't make a play in the final minute of the game.

Blaming the refs is nothing more than an excuse.

Blaming the refs is nothing more than an excuse. The reason the defense didn't stop them was because the refs gave them a 30 yard penalty. Not to mention a questionable 15 yarder to start it off.

Sure, the Browns could've made some more plays to finish them off, but you can't deny the effect that a terrible call had on the game.

I was yelling at the tv for intentional grounding flag, then I saw a replay and Vereen was close enough to where Brady threw it that it wasnt IG. The defenseless reciever and PI were BS calls.

I understood the defenseless receiver, because the guy launched himself and they call that. The PI call was terrible, though.

Yahoo Sports featured the "blown" call today - calling it "blown" suggests mistake, but I doubt it's a mistake.

When is the NFL going to get some competent full-time officials? Guys making these calls go back to loading trucks or hacking a cab today - then they put their official lid on next weekend. NFL has gone the Ralph Wilson Jr. route on officials for years (ie, CHEAP) and it shows!

Of course, if the penalty wasn't called Brady would have had 2nd-and-10 from the 30 with about 40 seconds left in the game. Considering he had already thrown for over 400 yards there is a pretty good chance he still leads them to a TD.

This may be true, but giving Brady a first and goal at the one is always an automatic seven. He has to pass and maybe the Browns hold them out of the endzone.

I did not see the game, so I can't comment specifically. What I think is that in close games bad calls by officials, whether conspiracy or incompetence, absolutely can influence the outcome of the game. However, teams can also play well enough to take bad calls by officials out of the equation. From the team's perspective, you have to know there is going to be a possibility of bad calls, especially when you're playing a team like the Patriots with a reputation for benefitting from those calls. You just know you can't make mistakes. In the end, it is both sloppy play by Cleveland and sloppy officiating that helped the Patriots win. At least that's what it sounds like from the discussion.

Steelers: Bettis back at home in Detroit

They can all "cheat" but it's obvious... none of these teams cheated. This is just a scripted league, and we're too stupid to think it's not. Seriously think about the crap that has gone on this year... Think about how a Patriots team with awful receivers just randomly gets good even with injuries. They win the Super Bowl for America! Called. Be mad at me in February when surprisingly a team who plays in cold weather gets to go to NY and play a cold weather game. It's all bull****, and it's not even a Bills thing. The Bills suck we get that but the owners are great writers.

I wasn't that shocked. In fact, I told my buddy that I bet the Patriots wind up winning that game before they even started the first of the two TD "drives." I said that, sure enough. Robert Kraft is the guy helps orchestrates the huge TV revenue, and sits on hugely powerful money boards. He's also in bed with Steve Wynn, a huge Las Vegas mogul that owns an unbelievable stock in the gambling capital. Just google "steve wynn" and "robert kraft." They were jockeying to build a billion dollar casino in Foxboro a couple of years back. Can you imaging that? Kraft went on to explain that he was worried about what would happen to the social fabric of society if more jobs weren't brought to America...this is why you build a huge casino. Gambling and the most powerful NFL team owner. How does that look to you?

And yeah, it wasn't just the pass interference, which was horrid, but it was also the unnecessary roughness call that other people have mentioned. Here that is. The guy nailed Edelman, but it was a clean shoulder-to-shoulder hit it seemed to me.

not always, this year, we got a fumble recovery at the one. then we did absolutely nothing with that huge gaffe. Point remains, the pats are favored. they have a weak team with an injured receiving corp and they keep putting up the same numbers. your head is in the sand if you don't think something else is playing a part in all of this "winning"

It's like we as fans have made the story line fun to be "what else could possibly go wrong for the bills" we are the susan lucci of league. other fans enjoy mocking us, and in some ways we enjoy getting kicked in the ass.

we keep coming back for it. the teams who are going to get taken care of are the teams where their fan bases or potential fan base is large and finicky. Seattle before hte new stadium was "also ran". Now after microsoft and starbucks and some cultural relevance has the loudest crowd in the league. and check that out, they got one of the best teams. also note they get a terrible call last year with replacement refs at the expense of a small market, dedicated fan base.

i don't think it's written and governed to, but i think there is enough bias to make it beneficial for refs to make the call that the league wants.

IMO, the NFL (and the tv folks) will make more $$$ if NE and DEN get a 1st round playoff bye.

They will again stuff the coffers with loot when those two meet in the AFC championship.
