View Full Version : Bills Need Another Epic FA Signing

Epic mint be an over statement for the Mario signing, however Ralph needs to cut one more check for Mario like money.

No not for Byrd, who does need to be paid. I'd pay him handsomely as well.

However I'm talking about Jimmy Graham. If the Saints don't franchise him the Bills need to make the same type of move they did for Mario.

The move for Traham helps on multiple levels. The Bills could use 4 or 5 picks in the first 2 rounds this year, Graham solves a ton of problems. He eliminates the need for a tight end early, and the team needs one in the worst way. Also as everyone crows for a number one wideout, that's just not happening this year. With Graham you gett a guy who's rest from day 1 and causes match up problems all I've the field.

He also allow the team to address OL, LB, and possibly QB (I like Aaron Murray in the 2nd or 3rd if he falls).

Graham demands a double team. It'd be interesting how he'd free up SJ, Woods and Goodwin.

Unlikely I know, but it is the one move Whaley and company could make to make their life easier on draft day, and as well provide EJ o whoever is behind center a true game changer in the passing game.

There's not a chance the Saints let Jimmy walk. Worst case scenario is he's franchised, guy isn't catching a pass from someone not named Brees until Brees is retired.

Graham is going to get paid either way.. choosing between catching passes between EJ and a future hall of famer isn't much of a decision.

I personally think Cutler would make more of a difference than Graham. HUGE upgrade at qb. Cutler is 30 as well so he is a vet that has some time left but you could spin it as EJ will be learning from Cutler and Take the reigns from him once he moves on. Not that would for sure happen but to me it is more likely they would do something like that than flat out admit they have no confidence in EJ by drafting a QB early again.

I'd bet every dollar in the world that we dont sign Cutler - why do people think this is realistic?

I'm all for the Bills doing something significant in free agency this year. They should definitely have the cap room to be aggressive, but Jimmy Graham is a total pipe dream. I'd be surprised if he reaches free agency. Even if he did, he'd have so many better options than Buffalo.

bills sign FA at the end part of a coach's term. "see, we just need more talent for their useless scheme."

we are in year two. this is the "we need to add through the draft. sorry x player is not resigned. we found a better replacement for him in round one and skipped over the BPA." part of the cycle.

last year was, "everything's new!"

Wait, you mean teams are allowed to re-sign good players? Since when? Did anyone tell Russ Brandon?

so you're already saying this has happened? I get the "realist" approach but saying it already happened when we are months away from FA? Get a grip people. If they're that predictable, why pay attention at all?

Graham would be perfect but it will never happen.

Build through the draft > go after stars in FA.

We see these types of posts every season. I wouldn't even want Jay Cutler for a 100 million dollar contract and 50+ million guaranteed. He gets injured often and outside of Denver what type of success has he really ever had? If the Bears didn't sign him to a contract extension then what would that say for him to begin with?

Had Buffalo drafted him over Alex Carrington the Bills and some of the same fans would be saying there isn't any way a TE is worth 10 million dollars a season and could easily be replaced.

We should have traded for him when he was on the market a few years back. Never understood why it wasn't even an option. Guy's arm was made for Buffalo.

Because McDaniels was looking for a starting quarterback to come back in the trade. That's why Chicago ultimately won the bidding: They could send Orton. We had Edwards, who would not have interested Denver.

Hopefully the splash we make is keep bryd carrington and branch

A top FA CB or WR would be good and then we can spend the draft on lineman for both sides, an LB, and a sweet TE. That's my wishlist.

Just as long as OBD promises -promises- that once said linemen develop into starting caliber players they let them go when their rookie deal is up.

I dont want to START rewarding players who excel on the field.

you watch because you love your hometown and you want to see it do well. you disconnect the pain when the team lets you down.

the cycle has been on going through 4 coaches. our OL head coach made our OL worse. Which if you remember was what the optimists were selling us at TC. "he played the position" "he's coached good olines". And he has obviously lesser talent than last year, but he hasn't coached anyone up to or past their potential. something you'd want from a great coach.

HOw predictable are the bills? they'll piss away the dolphins game, a game they should win because it's in the cold. and they'll get beaten by 15 points or more against NE allowing NE into the playoffs.

It's not realistic but it would be a splash. Cutler's blood and presence is ice. Unfortunately Cutler's blood and presence is ice. I can't imagine him in Marrone/Hackett's offense mostly because I still don't know what Marrone/Hackett's offense wants besides Thad Lewis who seemed to run it ok if not beaten senseless. I'm not sure if that says something about the offense.

Would be a splash though.

Cutler is one of the bigger a-holes in sports and needs a clean pocket.

Bledsoesque = no thanks

The threads here have been terrible the last couple months.

i was glad when they got mario bc like everybody else i thought the team was close to the postseason and he might put them over the top. chans huge mistake was putting edwards in as dc, and then later putting pornstachio in charge of that unit (which i liked at the time but he obviously has lost his ability to craft a good defense). so in hindsight i wish they hadnt got mario only bc he ties up too much cap space for what he delivers - hes good but not great and we could have several very solid players for what he costs

personally i dont want a big splash in free agency. i want them to continue what theyve done with free agents not named mario and sign good players for value. who can argue with the massive value theyve gotten out of guys like lawson, branch, and summers? another good draft and round of value fa signings (and ej elevating his game as a sophomore qb should) and this team should be challenging for the division next season
