Doug Marrone: #Bills (https://twitter.com/search?q=%23Bills&src=hash) QB EJ Manuel (knee) did not progress as needed. Thad Lewis will start at QB vs. Patriots.

Dang. We might win now.

This is all to protect EJ and their decision to draft him. If any other QB had this injury he would be out there and just be a less mobile QB. However, they don't want EJ to struggle and they know he will if he isn't fully mobile.

If anything they should use this as a development tool. He needs to sit in the pocket and make throws.

There kneeds to be a better plan than Knee. J. Mehnuel going forward.

Marrone wont hand the job to anyone, there will be a competition, both Thad, EJ and some other players will have the opportunity.

They better find someone who is better than Glass KneeJ in the offseason.

Or else we'll all be subjected to another season that looked like this one.

Awesome.

So now that's EJ's season is over, what's his grade?

I give him an F.

Injury prone.
Inconsistent, if anything consistently bad.
Accuracy is terrible, not sure accuracy can be taught.

EJ had 135 Drives this year.
20 resulting in a touchdown.
64 ended with a Punt.
92 of those drives were for 5 plays or less.

I like Thad. I don't see him as the future, but the dude will make a meaningless game much more entertaining to watch. If he doesn't fumble, he might even steal a win.

In comparison Denver has had 191 drives this year in which 67 ended in touchdowns.

Oddly the Bills offense is #1 for amount of drives this year with 203.

I wonder if they'll reverse course and declare him inactive.

I'm gonna say he should be riding the short bus.

This game is totally on Pettine and the defense. If we win, we'll probably lose him too.

Lewis should be starting regardless. He's better.

Dunno about Pettine being heavily wooed at the moment. I scratch my head at the good fortune regarding defensive injuries - especially with the amount of time the spend on the field (27th). Only one player on IR (Carrington) and some games missed by Byrd and Gilmore. It's unusual IMO to go through a season with your starting 11 generally intact. And all of them other than a questionable A. Williams ready to go for game 16. I'd have to factor in that favorable happenstance if I were shopping for a DC.

But you are right - he's going to be on stage front and center Sunday. If his D is the big factor in slapping down Satan, his stock rises.

NO he is not.

0 TD's 1 INT against the Fins.

That is NOT better than EJ.

Well, I am now in the group that labels EJ as injury prone.

It is what it is. We need a Favre like QB. Not another Rob Johnson.

Basically if EJ struggles next year and Thad is anointed as his backup, we will have no QB alternative and we will again miss the playoffs. It looks like we are banking the entire season next year on EJ and Thad. And we are still not even done this one....

How comfortable would that make you if you are Byrd, KW, Mario, Stevie or Fred?

The only controversy so far between EJ and Thad is , who looks like a better back up. Neither looks like a starter.

When healthy, I think EJ is much better than Thad.

But I don't think EJ can be counted on to stay healthy.

I am fine at this point with drafting a QB in the first rnd if one with potential is available.
