Jay Cutler signed a 7 year contract which will keep him in Chicago through the 2020 season.

If he sucks, then so do more than half the NFL QBs.

Umm They do. Pretty obvious there is a quarterback crisis in the NFL.

Oh well, another year of 6-10.

Who would ask for anything more.

Go Bills!!!

Cutler doesn't suck, but he's not one to win you the big game either.

I'll stick with EJ and see what he can do with a year under his belt.

They were never going to let him leave, there were no other surefire proven options out there.

Exactly. The same reason the Ravens gave Flacco all that money.

Smart move by the Bears.

I just read that he is going to make 18 mil. In each of the first 3 years.
I think that's insane. Cutler is good but not great.

the problem is is that's probably the going rate for solid 'franchise' quarterbacks. Stafford, Romo and Flacco are way overpaid if you look at the numbers, but the problem is there are more teams than there are solid qbs.

Cutler making 18 mil a year is just garbage. The guy is a cry baby and a choke artist. Maybe he can afford a chin implant now.

Exactly. Look at the money Byrd wants as a SAFETY.

Safety, not exactly the most important hardest to fill position in football.

Josh McCown played better than Cutler for the Bears this year, 13 TD's, 1 INT, 109 QBR. We can bring him in for 1 year $3m and let him back up Manuel. And if Manuel fails put him in there. To me that's more sensible than putting all your money on black which is what the Bears just did with Jeff George I mean Cutler.

If the Bills could get Josh signed for $3 Mill, I say do it.

However, I expect him to be in Chicago backing up Cutler.

Yes. You're right.

I remember when I was a kid, on any given Sunday you could turn on the TV and see Bert Jones, Terry Bradshaw, Kenny Stabler, Dan Fouts, Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkenton, Ken Anderson, Billy Kilmer, Bob Griese, Steve Grogan. Even the second tier QBs from that era, like Dan Pastorini, Archie Manning and Steve Bartkowski, would have been stars in this NFL.

Outside of the top 4 to 8 QBs (depends if you like watching Roethlisberger and Rivers), the QBs are watered down to crappy. Much of it is a result of the NCAA game going to the spread offense and using crappy, fragile running QBs. They have a shelf life of about 3 years in the NFL.

The only reason a guy like McNown would agree to come to a team like the Bills is if he were promised the starting job. He proved himself. He won't come here to be a back-up to Manuel on a non-playoff team. Why would anyone in their right mind do that? Even for all the money in the world he would be stupid to do that.

He'd be much smarter to go to Houston or someplace like that.
