Sabres' Myers to have hearing Monday

Buffalo Sabres (http://sabres.nhl.com/) defenseman Tyler Myers (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8474574) will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Monday afternoon for a hit on New Jersey Devils (http://devils.nhl.com/) center Dainius Zubrus (http://www.nhl.com/ice/player.htm?id=8464977) on Saturday night at First Niagara Center.
Myers received a two-minute minor for an illegal check to the head of Zubrus at 7:02 of the third period. Zubrus remained in the game.

i agree completely. but it has been coming more frequently this season, at least.

one of the reasons i just cant give up on the kid. so much talent, and certain parts of his game are getting better. im just waiting for it to all click at one point. maybe it doesnt.

Myers deserved what he got.

The problem is that not everyone get what they deserve. Some- like Scott- get more because he's an "enforcer" on a small market team that's playing poorly, so the league can afford to make an example out of them. Some-like Kessel or anyone in a Bruins jersey- gets less because the NHL doesn't want the black eye or the lost revenue from when a star is out or a big market team starts losing.

No one would be complaining if other players who did the same thin got the same punishment, but they don't.

There's this improv comedy TV show called "who's line is it, anyway?" and part of the gag is that the host assigns the comedians points after each sketch then declares a winner on a completely arbitrary basis. It feels like that's what Shananahan does with suspensions- just randomly throws them out there based on his opinion of the guy at the moment.

but, did anyone see myers comments today? this suspension wont deter him from continuing to play more aggressively. thats a good thing if he continues to play like a larger player.

its a hit from behind, kinda. i would say if is a suspension, it should be one 1 or 2 games.

this is Myers's second suspension

I like what Nolan said about it. He liked that Myers was aggressive, but needed to be smarter in that situation. We were already on the penalty kill, there was no reason to step into the player to lay a big check in that situation. And, like another poster said, even if he makes the check completely legal, New Jersey scores right there.
