At this point, no. Auburn is close to what he'll see in the NFL and he looks like crap. But he's a freshman.

so i guess beating up on the ACC didn't get FSU ready for this one. Is it just me or do the top SEC teams only seem to lose against other SEC teams?

Not anymore. Wow Florida State happened to beat the big bad SEC team after "beating up" on the ACC all season. Beat them in dramatic fashion too with a great comeback.

glad to see someone not from the SEC win the big game. but you're not going to convince me this was Winston's win. A lot of FSU players made huge plays and Winston did just enough to not muck it up. Some lucky breaks helped too. Still it was nice to see FSU pull it out. 8 years of SEC dominance had to end sometime.

BillsFever21
01-06-2014, 11:56 PM
Well considering he lead a good comeback and is the first freshman QB to ever win a BCS title says a lot. Not to mention winning the Heisman and Player of the Year along with it. I would call that a pretty good game and season for Famous Jameis.

Let's not act like Auburn did not get lucky breaks too. Muffing three straight kicks (2 punts and a kickoff) with the ball falling their way is a pretty damn good break.

And while it was not just his win, a freshman driving a team to a winning TD when the drive started with less than 90 seconds left in the game is not meaningless.

That 4th qtr did more for his development than the rest of the season combined. He's already a better QB than Manziel, and will be a better pro.

Isn't that Winston I see hoisting that national title ? He probably needs help, since he's holding a Heisman with his other hand.

Nice 1st year.

Way to post idiocy before the game is done.

01-07-2014, 07:46 AM
i think jameis just looked average. i didn't think anything was wrong with his throwing motion. i just don't think he really was ready to carry a team on his back against a very good team. perhaps this win (where the kick return really was the thing that helped propel the win) will help him get used to the bigger stage.

i wouldn't want to predict how a freshman will pan out in the NFL since it's a ways off. In games earlier this year, he threw some of the prettiest passes of the season right on target. but he did have time throwing almost all season from what i saw.

Awesome game! FSU looked like crap to start the game. I think two things were going on. First, I think they were a bit intimidated by playing on the big stage, against the toughest opponent they had played all year. Second, I think Auburn's coaching staff did an awesome job game planning to exploit areas where FSU players lacked a little experience. Ingtar, I agree that this was far from Jameis Winston's finest game, and that he just pulled it together enough at the end, with lots of other players contributing. BUT, the kid is a redshirt freshman on the biggest stage he's ever seen. I have to give him kudos for shaking off his early game jitters and learning from his struggles early on. I don't think this game detracts at all from his promise as an eventual starter in the NFL.

What a feeling it was to see one of my football teams finally win another championship. Their last one was 1999 which was the same year the Bills last made the playoffs. It was a long 15 years between the both of them.

Throw that in with being a Mets fan and it makes it even more miserable. The only team of mine that have given me any joy has been the Tar Heels in college basketball. It's great seeing FSU finally on top again but the excitement isn't even at the same level as it would be if Buffalo would even win a single playoff game at this stage let alone a championship.

Tom buddy......
Let's be honest the fake punt was the play of the year..
21-3 going into half is so much different then 21-10 which FSU made it...
Auburn had them by the throat but couldn't squeeze it......,
I said in the beginning of the year FSU was the best team in the country....
Auburn beat themselves when FSU didn't play a good game...
But good teams know how to win..

Absolutely it was huge (and ballsy). I never denied that. But Auburn got breaks too - that was my only point. FSU in the first half was as bad as they have been all year. Auburn could not finish them and let them hang around.

Regardless of how it went down....

It was a great night!

My heart was racing like mad on the last FSU drive and was absolutely out of control when they got close to the goaline, especially after the PI call. I made a pretty damn loud noise when Benjamin caught that pass.

And, to top it off, winning a Bowl pick'em contest made it a pretty successful college football season.
