    Bills Hire Defensive Assistant Coach

Bills just hired Jeff Hafley as Defensive Assistant. Could be a sign that Pettine is gone? Would they hire someone will Pettine is out interviewing?

    Hire Hafley

He is a low level hire, just above an intern.

Glad to see they are bringing in guys with pedigree. This guy learned his craft at Pittsburgh from 2006 - 2010, so he has ties to the vaunted Wannstedt coaching tree.

I wouldn't read anything into this with respect to Pettine. Pettine may have made the initial contact and fully approves of the hire, but the number crunchers didn't finish up the contract details until Pettine was out interviewing for the Cleveland job.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

It's weird timing to announce the hiring of a new defensive assistant while your d coordinator is out on an interview. Not saying the new hire is a replacement, just would want his boss to be there when it was announced.

Well, an awful lot, we are Bills fans posting on a board that isn't really there.

So what you're saying is that he is most likely going to be our DC?

Safety specialty, well ok, hire a QB coach too ? Isn't this first year stuff unless you realized you dorked up ? In which case why should anyone trust them for dorking up the first year and figure they won't the second ?

I don't know, maybe they learned something and improved. If they didn't I'll always remember they had a college OC also being QB's coach developing a bunch of young QB's and didn't realize they needed a safety coach while having two lb coaches one of which they fired while also booting a wr coach over philosophy, which I still don't grasp and no one has adequately explained.

There's a certain amount of trial and error sure, but come on now.
