Re: Bills add Offensive Assistant Jim Hostler
Senior Offensive Assistant. What does that mean? Will he be coaching the WR's too?
The guy was an OC in SF, and considered for the OC job in Baltimore. A helping hand for Natty?"You can't be a real country unless you have beer and an airline - it helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need beer."

Re: Bills add Offensive Assistant Jim Hostler
well eight years nfl exp with two of that as oc so good pro background. they do need a wr coach and he can provide veteran input to the entire offense from that position and enhanced job title. not quite the highly seasoned coaching vet i was hoping to infect the offense with but close. should provide a more mature voice in the middle of that unit which is good, finally

Getty ImagesThere will be yet another change to the Baltimore coaching staff.
The Bills have hired Ravens wide receivers coach Jim Hostler as senior offensive assistant, the club announced Wednesday.
Hostler coached the Ravens’ wide receivers for the last six seasons. He interviewed for the Ravens’ offensive coordinator role in January, but the club elected to hire former Texans head coach Gary Kubiak for the job.

The Ravens have made significant changes to their coaching staff on offense since season’s end, with the addition of Kubiak most notable. Kubiak replaced Jim Caldwell, who was hired as the Lions’ head coach.

it also looks like marrone might have stepped into the middle of hacketts junk. marrone lets hackett make the call on qb coach to give him ownership of it, doesnt like that he hired a pimple faced intern, so he awards hostler the assistant grand pubah of offense or something title and plugs him into the middle of nathans hizzy to keep an eye on him

Re: Bills add Offensive Assistant Jim Hostler
With that title it sounds like he will be something of a passing game coordinator. Probably focused on WR's more than other positional groups.
That said, his background doesn't scream "jackpot"!
You hope with his experience he helps the passing game mesh and develop and not flatline. There will be a lot of blame to pass around next year if EJ sputters.

Re: Bills add Offensive Assistant Jim Hostler
I think the title is deliberately vague to give Marrone flexibility in how he uses him. I imagine he'll be something of a consultant to Hackett, but his experience working with both QBs and WRs will enable him to be used where needed. In some ways he may be an extra set of eyes for Marrone at training camp.I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.
I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

Interesting. Hackett unofficially on notice? I mean why would Hostler sign unless he felt he had a shot moving up? Or is he a temp fill to help Hackett until another team needs his services in a higher role?
Curious.
