Breaking News: Ryan Callahan takes a puck to the head during practice, Wakes up thinking he's Sidney Crosby, Makes crazy contract demand! :$::crazy:

Ryan Callahan (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=ryan+callahan) trade talks caught a lot of people off guard. Details are now emerging about why the Rangers would consider such a move.

Darren Dreger: He wants a lot of money. It's been widely reported that mCallahan is looking for a seven-year term around $6 million per year. That is not accurate. I'm told that it is more than $6.5 million but less than $7 million per year on a seven-year term
Whether it's $6 million per year or, as we know now, closer to $7 million, that's a lot of money; too much for the Rangers. There's not a lot of wiggle room in this negotiation and that's why Glen Sather is considering and working towards moving his captain.

It seems like a pressing issue. What are the chances Callahan gets either signed or traded before this Friday's Olympic roster freeze?

Dreger: 50/50. I know that's an easy guess to make but I would say it's more unlikely to get done because there is a willingness to push this as far as you can. But in the meantime the Rangers also need to get as much in return as possible for Callahan. The Chris Stewart (http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=chris+stewart) deal with the St. Louis Blues is still there; Stewart would be a part of that.

Katie Strang of ESPN (https://twitter.com/KatieStrangESPN/status/430388451796451328): Ryan Callahan is reportedly looking for a seven-year deal in the $42 million range, and the Rangers reportedly offered a five-year deal worth $30 million.

For 16 goals/15 assists? Really?

Reading a lot about Vanek to Kings.

Chris Nichols (https://twitter.com/Nichols_NHLPool/status/430372196951654400): Thomas Vanek’s agent: ”I understand we’re getting close to the time where Garth may feel he needs to act.”

Dennis Bernstein (https://twitter.com/DennisTFP/status/430375403807457280): Vanek would be a costly rental and his salary cap number doesn’t really work for the Kings.

Jason Brough (https://twitter.com/JasonPHT/status/430373928939556864): Vanek to the Kings makes sense. Brough is not sure though what the Kings would, or could, give up for Vanek though.

Chris Botta (https://twitter.com/ChrisBottaNHL/status/430379566754848769): The Islanders may have to consider benching Vanek until a trade is made, and to get it done before the Olympics. He’s a player that doesn’t need to be showcased.

Katie Strang (https://twitter.com/KatieStrangESPN/status/430388451796451328): Vanek has never had the opportunity to test the free agent market. Hard to blame him for wanting have the opportunity too.

He turned down $50 million.

Moulson and a first rounder for a guy that's been long rumored to want to play in Minnesota?

WTF was that hose job thinking?

the second rounder is often over looked. it could get you a good prospect in a deep year. or a nice bargaining chip in a trade.

Not really.. I don't think miller is even tradable at this point until after Sochi.

and the time to trade him was two or three years agp anyways.

I agree with you 100%

But reading all the talking heads articles Murray want's way to dam much for Miller.

And teams are walking away from him.

He inherited a bad situation.

his first trade may be a bucket of pucks for a the past decades franchise goalie.

he will trade him after Sochi but he will be lucky to get a decent prospect for him.

I get the feeling he's a bit of a hot head, That could rub other GM's and Players the wrong way.

I get the feeling he's a bit of a hot head, That could rub other GM's and Players the wrong way.I think it's a little early for any judgments to be made, but assuming he is... he had Lafontaine in the room with him. Patty is the opposite of that. Calm cool and collected.

nothing to see here at this point except that Sabres tanking.

lets see what happens after Sochi.
