    Seattle Dynasty

It started last nigh and I'm expecting it to continue. Seattle will be the next major dynasty. I Expect them to win another 2-3 SBs in next 5 years. Comparing them to past Dynasties they have a lot uncommon.

    Why Seattle:
    1) Great Defense
    2) Great QB
    3) Very good supporting cast on offense (WR, Line, TE, RB)

    Similarities:
Pats: had great Defenses, great QB in second year player (Brady), good RB and ok WR. (2000's)

Cowboys: great D, awesome Line & RB, very good WR & QB (1990's)

    49ers: great offenses & defenses (1980's)

    Etc....

Even if you look at non-dynasty teams that have won multiple SB in a short amount of time they usually have the same in common:

    1) great D:
    2) Franchise QB
    3) very good supporting cast: WR, RB, lines

    Eg: Giants, Steelers, etc...

    Who Doest win Multiple SBs:

    1) one dimensional teams: eighter have great D or great O

eg: Saints, Baltimore, Rams, Pats, Broncos, Vickings, Bucs, Colts, etc
(Many won one SB but couldn't repeat or lost SB with top offense)

In summery, it starts with having a great Defense and a franchise QB. It's not an eighter or. For instance, Pats without Brady, Cowboys without Aikman, 49ers without Montana don't become Dynasties.

However, when those sans teams focus too much on offense they become like the 98 Vikes, the 2007 Pats or the 2013 Broncos, too one dimensional!

These one dimensional teams lose to the more complete teams which is why Seatle beat the Broncos, why the Giants beat the Pats and why the Pats beat the Rams. It's why Payton Manning has one ring while Eli has two.

Seattle doesn't have the offense or the QB to be repeat winners IMO.

        But they do...
Wilson in his 2nd year was very good. Their WR are above average and with Harvin they are a very good unit.

        As for Contracts:
Seatle is youngest team and 2nd youngest to win SB! They still have much of their talent for another 2-3years before they have to start paying big $$$.

The thing that set Seatle apart was their ability to draft & develop players. If this continues... They will be on top for a while.

eh. They may win another 1. 3 of the next 5? Highly doubt it.

Sounds a lot like the Chicago Bears dynasty of the 80s.

I live in on the West Coadt so I see a lot of Wilson. I remember his first game as a rookie... He was phenomenal one dropped pass from a come from behind victory. He had 26TDs in rookie season, only other player to do that was Payton. Slowed down a bit in year two but was great none the less. He's like the new version of Brady.

They do seem to have it all and so young.
They may even get better than this.

                  Re: Seattle Dynasty

I think this team definitely could win another one, but I'm sure people were saying the same things about the Bucs and Ravens after they won as well.

Their O is very average and they rely very heavily on a RB that has taken a beating and is probably nearing the end of his shelf life.

To top it off, their defense is great NOW, but 9 of their starters have contracts expiring in the next two years.

Thomas, Irvin, Wagner, Smith, Sherman, and Maxwell alone make up for about a total of only 9 million dollars. Sherman and Thomas will command more than that each on their for their next contract.

To top it off, Wilson is making less than a million dollars this year. How much do you think he's going to want when his contract is up after the 2015 season? ESPECIALLY if they continue to win Super Bowls like you're predicting.

He's going to want Joe Flacco money AT LEAST.

They would really have to continue hitting in the draft so they could afford to jettison aging players with large contracts if they want to be a dynasty.

the free agency system insures that the only way to create a dynasty in the nfl now is to have that once a decade or more qb and pay the crap out of him. the cheaters are the closest thing and thats all bc of marcia. thank god they only won sbs when they were cheating so we can dog them with that forever but theyve still been the most consistenly successful team in the last ten years plus

defense does usually win championships but its extremely difficult to replicate the lightning in a bottle effect with eleven guys from one season to the next. injuries, contract changes, and just the fact that its hard to get one guy to play consistenly well let alone eleven of them means that a units performance is usually going to vary widely one season to another

thats literally one of the best defenses we have ever seen in the nfl. its highly unlikely they can maintain that and will have to have some other part of the team emerge to have another shot. id love to be in their shoes though

not to worry, we have marrone and schwartz and ej and mario and hackett and pepper and russ and fred pagac so our dynasty is right around the corner

Somebody's a little overly awe-struck with yesterday's Super Bowl winners.

Have the NFL PED testers made up to Seattle yet? It appears not.

Asked if the Seattle Seahawks have a problem with performance-enhancing drugs with five player suspensions since 2011, cornerback Richard Sherman told ESPN The Magazine, “it does seem that way.”

The Cheaters won SBs because they had a great defense (and the cheating) not because of Marcia.

Not exactly. Brady was amazing against the panthers and played well against the eagles.

In his 9 playoff games in years they won the SB, he threw for over 240 yards and had a positive TD/INT ratio only once and that was against Carolina.

Winning your first 9 playoff games is no small feat, but if they had even an average defense, they could've very easily been eliminated well before the SB.
