Over the summer the NHL will announce that Seattle will be joining the west in 2016.

They will get the 1st overall pick in the 2015 draft... :couch:

what is the point of having a super rich owner who wants to follow the penguins model if the nhl isn't going to take our cash under the table like the penguins did for the lottery. who is outpaying pegula?

So this would help other teams for Connor McDavid. However, maybe the Islanders pick next year would land us McDavid assuming Islanders keep pick this year.

yeah... the year that it matters.

Agree but at least this year won't be a wash. At any rate, Sabres still are gonna suck hard next year, mcdavid will still be In the Sabres sights.

When rules give Buffalo a chance of winning in the NHL (foot in the crease), just change the rules up.

i doubt this will happen. maybe its just my homerism talking, but look what happened in the NBA when the lottery was implimented. orlando got back to back first picks. after a 41-41 season.

Am I the only one here who thinks its bull**** that owners are allowed to purposely tank their teams to get good draft picks?

People pay hard-earned money for those seats, you have an obligation to put the best product on the field.

I know tanking is going to help us, but it really is horse ****. Poor management is poor management and we are where we are very deservedly so.

We won the the chance to draft Gilbert Perrault. I'm not saying that anyone in the 2014 as good but like to think if we could get 2 of the top 5 picks (as can't see the Islanders risking us landing Connor with their top pick) we could see the Sabres be back in the playoffs as soon as 2015 pending what we do in free agency this year.
