Tim Dworak couldn't cut it in his first shot of trying to reach the NBA, but the Green Bay Packers believe the former University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Kewaunee High School standout can apply his imposing height in the NFL.

The 6-foot-7 Dworak, who hasn't played football in seven years and recently participated in the Milwaukee Bucks' free-agent camp, has a tryout today at the Don Hutson Center.

"They want to see what kind of hands and agility I have," Dworak said Monday night, less than a week after the Packers contacted him.

Marc Lillibridge, the team's pro personnel assistant, placed the first call to an unsuspecting Dworak last Tuesday.

"I had to check the phone book to make sure it was the right number," said Dworak, adding, "I knew it wasn't a joke" when head coach/general manager Mike Sherman reached Dworak a few minutes later
