    Michael Sam's College Football Highlights

6'2 255 lbs, SEC Defensive Player of The Year winner, and first team all-SEC selection.

    Projected as a 3rd-4th rounder.

    What!? Seriously!??

    That doesn't make any sense.

    CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
    C.J. Mosley, Alabama
    Michael Sam, Missouri

C.J. Mosley is a first round draft pick.

    Why not Michael Sam?

    Most Valuable Player

2013: Tre Mason, RB, Auburn (offense); C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama(defense) and Michael Sam, DE, Missouri (defense)

    -------

"Projected," 3rd or 4th round for Sam, but Mosley and Mason will be gone by the end of round 1.

    What's up with that?

When the news broke last night, ESPN showed some highlights. I had no idea Sam came out, the volume on the TV was way down, all I was watching were the plays on TV being shown that caught my attention. I thought ESPN was showing old footage of Ray Lewis.

Seriously, put this kid in a Baltimore Ravens uniform with #52 and people would think Lewis came out of retirement, not the closet.

If the Bills don't take Khalil Mack with the 9th pick, and Sam is still on the board in the 3rd round for the Bills to take, I hope Doug Whaley gives this kid a chance to help make the Buffalo Bills Super Bowl Champions.

If NFL scouts didn't already know that Sam is gay, he would more than likely be a 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

What is crazy is not where Sam is projected to go in the draft, but that he earned those unwarranted honors.

The book on Sam is he is a tweener without the ability to cover in the NFL.

He is projected as a pass rush specialist/special teams player.

He's got talent, but he doesn't have a natural position. There are schemes he simply doesn't fit in, so he's not going to be on all 32 draft boards.

Re: Michael Sam's College Football Highlights

He was projected as a mid-round pick before he "came out." He is a good ball player, but the concerns I have seen are around his nit having a natural position. The "tweener" label.

I do not believe he will drop much in the draft due to his lifestyle. If anything, he may because some teams don't want to deal with a Tebow-esque media scrutiny. Still, winning is what it's all about and if a team values his talents in rounds 3-5, I believe he will go accordingly.

They guy was a terrific college player, one of the best players in the best conference in college football. He can play the game.

The problem he has is he is small for a DE in the NFL and he has shown no evidence that he could transition to LB. Guys like that fall to the middle rounds because they usually become part-time players, only playing in passing situations. He has to play with his hands in the dirt, but how is he going to set the edge against the mammoth OT in the NFL? Is the is same reason a guy like Robert Mathis dropped to the 5th round.

Yep. On one hand I'd love for us to draft him so we can say we have the first openly gay NFL player, but he'd basically just be another Jerry Hughes type. Probably would be primarily a special teamer for us. I'd take him in the 6th if he's still there, but I don't believe he fits a need on the team enough to grab before then.

I agree and don't think we would reach for him, but I do think he'll be gone before the 6th round. Even if he's considered a situational pass rusher in the mold of Jerry Hughes, for example. In today's game a situational pass rusher is more valuable than it was 10 years ago simply because there is a lot more situational passing. 3rd-4th round, in my opinion.

Re: Michael Sam's College Football Highlights

Just because, "Tweener," rhymes with wiener doesn't make Michael Sam a one trick pony.

If he was not worthy of the SEC Defensive Player of The Year award, then why did he win it?

I think Sam is an inside linebacker in the NFL that has the ability to play DE too if you're the Tampa 2 Tony Dungy/Lovie Smith type coach.

He fits into a 3-4 or a 4-3 defense, which is something The Schwartz and many other defensive coordinators should like.

At 6:08 of the highlight film, Sam does not have his hands on the ground. He's essentially playing as a linebacker.

The play results in a sack.

Alex Carrington is an unrestricted free agent. So is Arthur Moats.

Michael Sam is a better football player than both of those players combined.

                    'Just another Jerry Hughes type....'

With only 10 QB sacks as a rookie.

                    That would be awesome.

What makes Michael Sam a one trick pony is the fact he is too small to be a DE except on passing downs & he can not cover at LB.

He is in fact a one trick pony.

And the only reason he won that award is because he is Gay.

He had the most sacks and tackles for a loss in the SEC b/c he's gay?
[W]e are busy that we may have leisure, and make war that we may live in peace...

[F]or no one chooses to be at war, or provokes war, for the sake of being at war; any one would seem absolutely murderous if he were to make enemies of his friends in order to bring about battle and slaughter...

You are embarrassing yourself and your religion with absolutely insane statements like that.

The sad part is you aren't trolling.

And if this isn't proof that your God doesn't exist, or at the least ****ing hates us, then I don't know what is.

Watch that video I posted above your post and you'll find there are far more nefarious powers at work than the gay pride movement.
