New stadium now closer to being built?

State officials want to “get going right away” with the first meeting and discussions.
“The administration official said that “all options are on the table,” noting the appointment of Brown and Dyster to the panel. He confirmed that those options include considering downtown Buffalo and the outer harbor, as well as suburban Erie County or Niagara Falls, for possible stadium locations.

Based on other new National Football League stadiums, the price tag could reach $800 million to $1 billion.
By the time the lease expires in 2023, Ralph Wilson Stadium would be 50 years old. That’s ancient in NFL circles.

Well, Solder Field in Chicago was built in 1924 & at 90 years old is the oldest NFL Stadium.

There are also OLD baseball stadiums, including Wrigley Field & Fenway park.

I hope no one from the Peace Bridge project is on it.

This area has a long history of talking and getting little done. I was stunned when Brian Higgins got waterfront development going downtown.

Skeptical of anything downtown, due to lack of parking and traffic routes. Retractable dome right next to the current stadium but I'll believe it when I see it.

I have the post from four years ago still bookmarked where it was rumored the new stadium location would be Niagara Falls.

They either build a new stadium or the team will leave, we're the only NY football team that plays in NY.

I'm not in favor of a dome, but if it's a dome make it fixed and don't waste the money on retractable. We will be lucky to have it open for three games a year. A fixed dome gives up the bad weather advantage just like a retractable and is cheaper to build.

i think building sooner than later is a good idea. the ralph is in such terrible condition. bathrooms over flow, power goes out, congestion in the concourse, impossible with 6 entrances.

however, the closeness to the field is important and should be incorporated into the new design.

wasting $120MM-$200MM on repolishing a turd isn't a good idea.

i also am in favor of building in downtown buffalo. with the hockey harbor projects moving along, the casino being built and the grain silo project being discussed, life in downtown like restaurants and such will return. i realize this is different than our current tailgaiting standards, but it will help create a more vibrant downtown. we are on the right track....keep going.

If they build a new Stadium, I think a fixed roof is the way to go.

Should be easier to sell out late season games in a dome with a good team playing inside it.

The new dome in Minnesota with the clear glass roof is going to look pretty cool.

But most of us know that the Bills are known for the tailgate experience....

Downtown has so much going against it.

Traffic would be a nightmare & parking limited.

I remember going to the Aud years ago. It wasn't that bad going there, but leaving was a nightmare.

The comments to that article are more reflective of general public opinion than solely Bills fan opinion.

If the issue of increased taxation for a publicly funded new stadium goes to a referendum, I would not be surprised if it is defeated.

Yeah we know your thoughts on the Bills. You expect them to be moved to LA.

No team is moving to LA. That will be a new franchise so the franchise fee can be split among the NFL owners.
