Re: Any interest in GB DT B.J. Raji?
First, DT is fine. We shouldn't even think about the DL until we do something about LB and T and WR.
Second, the tackle numbers are low but DT's shouldn't be judged on sacks, especially not in a 3-4 D. Their job is to eat space and push the pocket back. And QB's these days are too athletic to get taken down by a 300 lb guy in open space. It's not a very good stat to use to judge a DT's performance. DE or OLB, sure, but not DT.

Depth is never bad but I suspect he'll be too expensive to be a depth guy. Plus, he'll probably want to go someplace where he at least has a chance to start.

IMO DT isn't fine, this defense is weak from the line straight back up the middle. A space-eater is exactly what the line needs to improve stopping the run. Plug him (not necessarily Raji, but somebody) in on early/running downs in place of KW, and sub KW in situations that play to his strengths (shooting gaps and rushing the passer).YardRat Wall of Fame

Re: Any interest in GB DT B.J. Raji?
Need a run stuffing DT to rotate with overshooting-the-play Kyle Williams imho, but it's not Raji.
Justin Rogers our cornerback had 18 tackles and 5 assist in 5 games to Raji's 13 and 6 in 16 games. While I agree with OPIV37 to some extent, a DT can probably snag a running backs shoelaces 20 times a year for more than 13 tackles. The overshooting-the-play Kyle Williams even had 42 of them.
In this case, Raji compares to the apathetic Albert Haynesworth schmucking out his time in Washington part time or riding the bus in Tampa Bay.
Noticeable thing about the Pack is that their defense was having trouble even slowing anyone down by the end of the year at the line of scrimmage. Raji's gloss is gone and he'll think himself expensive.Last edited by Mace; 02-13-2014, 06:18 PM.
