Ebron is the big name, easily plucked at #9 (or lower with a trade-down, IMO).
Can a case be built in favor of a TE as #1 pick?

Re: Can a case be built in favor of a TE as #1 pick?
great legendary TE's have been typically taken in the 3rd round and later.
i agree it's a position of need and could help EJ. EJ is such a skittish passer. when he's feeling it, he has no fear. but he opens games short arming passes etc. perhaps a solid guy he trusts short will give him the confidence he needs.
but picking a TE in Round 1 is the offensive whitner. There is no way the guy can live up to the expectation we give him. It's a position that can only be as good as the qb and if EJ's problems are bigger and he just continues to be a middling qb, the TE numbers will reflect that.

Gonzo was a 1st rd. pick. Gronk was 2nd . I wouldn't be surprised if the Pats are looking to replace Hernandez via the draft especially with Marsha starting to decline and Gronk with an ACL injury.

A good TE would be nice to have but not with the #9 pick in the draft. Late in the 1st or 2nd round is fine but most of the TE's drafted in the Top 10 never produce up to them expectations.
We need a blue chip LB or OT with that top pick. Possibly even a big WR depending on how the draft is falling. Between Clowney and all of the QB's we shouldn't have a problem ending up with one. Take whichever is the best on the board at them positions.
