Thoughts from twitter:

Chris Botta (https://twitter.com/ChrisBottaNHL/status/439560320714276864): “If Isles defer Vanek pick to next year, the Sabres have 3 first-rounders and 3 2nd-rounders in the 2015 draft.”

Pierre LeBrun (https://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/status/439559040696213506): “Chris Stewart now a good asset for the Sabres. They could keep him, or deal him if price is right. Good position to be in.”

Bob McKenzie (https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/439559022996234240): “I’m told there aren’t likely to be any more BUF moves tonite. I’d say BUF will try to flip Jaro Halak to MIN and Chris Stewart to OTT.”

L.A. Lariviere (https://twitter.com/L_A_theRiver/status/439558757790806017): “Honeslty, I can’t think of one single flaw the Blues have now. People in St. Louis have a true Stanley Cup contender.”

Craig Custance (https://twitter.com/CraigCustance/status/439558286510399490): “Doug Armstrong gets bonus points for pulling off this trade without including Jake Allen.”

Jason Brough (https://twitter.com/JasonPHT/status/439557393672699905): ‘I always thought Chris Stewart would be a big star. Hasn’t really turned out that way. Still could I guess.”

Spector’s Hockey (https://twitter.com/SpectorsHockey/status/439556972061679616): “The #Blues improved their Cup hopes with this move, but don’t anoint them Cup champs yet. Ask the #Penguins how that worked last season.”

Craig Custance (https://twitter.com/CraigCustance/status/439556506619764736): “Agree. Really no reason to keep him. RT @wwheelz2002 @CraigCustance think they flip Stewart for more also #sabres”

Adam Proteau (https://twitter.com/Proteautype/status/439556046294503425): “I like how Tim Murray maximized his assets by pairing them and turning them into pieces he can flip. But I also like the deal for the Blues.”

John Shannon (https://twitter.com/JSportsnet/status/439556029970268160): “Told that the Sabres will pay difference between Halak and Miller salaries, which is 1.75 mil.”

Jason Gregor (https://twitter.com/JasonGregor/status/439555596958695424): “Great trade for Blues… Interesting to see how Hawks respond and Kings. Also expect Doug Wilson to make his usual smart moves. “

The Goalie Guild (https://twitter.com/TheGoalieGuild/status/439555244754599937): “This is just opinion, but I worry about Sabres depth now. Wouldn’t re-sign Halak, Enroth tops out at backup, Hackett still work in progress.”

Andrew Walker (https://twitter.com/FAN590Walker/status/439555014315368448): “Great job Murray for playing game to make it seem Miller market was bigger than it was. Big part of me thinks STL could’ve played hard ball”

Terry Koshan (https://twitter.com/koshtorontosun/status/439554505785765888): “Blues step up. Now interesting to see how/if Ducks, Hawks, Sharks respond in coming days.”

Bob McKenzie (https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/439554328773152768): “I know OTT wants Chris Stewart. I know 3-way STL-BUF-OTT deal was discussed this week. I don’t know (yet) if it’s done or if it will be done”

Jason Gregor (https://twitter.com/JasonGregor/status/439553995191762945): “With all the assets going to Buffalo have to think Miller will re-sign in St.Louis. No way Armstrong gives up that much for rental.”

Craig Custance (https://twitter.com/CraigCustance/status/439553466911170560): “Blues one of the trade destinations where I could see Miller opening up contract talks and signing long-term before free agency.”

Dustin Nielson (https://twitter.com/nielsonTSN1260/status/439553735522394112): “If you’re Ryan Miller why would you not want to sign a long term deal to play for the Blues?”

Pierre LeBrun (https://twitter.com/Real_ESPNLeBrun/status/439553465178542081): “Love that Blues went for it. Miller all along to me was perfect addition for a great team. Watch out West.”

St. Louis Blues (https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/439553005856116736): “Ryan Miller and Steve Ott will meet the team in Phoenix, where we play on Sunday.”

Was Buccigross involved, because I think he is the only one that knows hockey there (if he even still works there). What else would you expect.

Personally I'm not excited as a Sabres fan. But apparently this may be a thing in process as rumors keep saying Halak and Stewart could be on the move. I will be excited if they get another #1 pick in 2014 out of this.

The Blues fans should be excited about what they got.

There is almost no way TO be excited about moves we make as they will almost always be for the future. But, if we aren't getting high draft picks, I certainly would like it if they got some actual prospects, especially at goalie. I don't know if Enroth or Hacket is the long term answer.

More to come worry worts....Tim Murray knows what he's doing.

My comment about no way to be excited only means there is nothing coming back which will make people think "we have a great NHL player right here". We will get picks and/or prospects that have a future but aren't current NHL stars. The only players we get will be players teams can't afford and ones they feel are expendable. So you can't be excited about the present, but I certainly feel excited about the future.

You all need to accept it's going to be 2-3 yrs before we reap all the rewards. This team will be elite like CHI/PIT/BOS/SJ....you will see.

More recent TWITTER comments:

Hope Smoke (https://twitter.com/Hope_Smoke/status/439523308736765952): Bob McKenzie: ”Murray knows he has a long rebuild ahead of him and because of that he’s looking to acquire as much assets as possible”

Mike Harrington (https://twitter.com/BNHarrington/status/439609849908039680): Signs pointing to the Sabres not keeping Jaroslav Halak. Head coach Ted Nolan was talking about Jhonas Enroth being their No. 1 guy.

Dave Isaac (https://twitter.com/davegisaac/status/439603661321547776): Now that Flyers Ray Emery has been listed as day-to-day, maybe the speculation that the Flyers will be going after Jaroslav Halak will stop.

Elliotte Friedman (https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/439407097050980352): If the Sabres trade Christian Ehrhoff, need to keep on eye on the cap recapture penalty. It doesn’t affect the team that would trade for him, but it could affect (https://twitter.com/FriedgeHNIC/status/439408627015622656) what the Sabres want in return for him.

Bob McKenzie (https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/439563816204898305): Potential Senators targets if the Sabres decide to flip Chris Stewart to them are Mark Stone, Matt Puempel, Mark Borowiecki and Fredrik Claesson.

A.J. Jakubec (https://twitter.com/AJonSports/status/439580665122545664): Hearing the Sabres have asked the Senators for Mike Hoffman in any potential Chris Stewart trade.

Bob McKenzie (https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/439564436609589248): “Of course, wouldn’t it be infinitely more interesting if BUF traded Stewart and Matt Moulson to OTT for a really big haul. Buckle up.”

Adrian Dater (https://twitter.com/adater/status/439555672078696449): Dater has heard that the Senators want Chris Stewart. If they don’t land him, they could make a pitch for Avalanche’s P.A. Parenteau.

Adrian Dater (https://twitter.com/adater/status/439563256823169024): Dater doesn’t see the Stewart heading back to the Avalanche.

I heard the talking heads on the ESPN NHL show were saying Buffalo got raped.

It's ESPN. They've heard of Ryan Miller, so him leaving must be bad.

That's about the extent of their hockey knowledge. There are Aborigine bushmen in the Australian outback who know more about hockey than them.

Sounds like the Bills future future and 15 years later the future never comes. Now the fans are to wait 2-3 years again? Building for the future is just what they say when they can not get the job done!
