    Byrd Gone

Just got an email from WGR stating Bills will not use franchise tag on Jarius Byrd. They also state the Bills will not resign him and Byrd will be leaving. This has been a banner weekend for Buffalo sports.

Forgive me for sounding foolish but who/what is WAR? Honestly I can't see the Bills letting Byrd just walk as an UFA of course I've said this in year's past and they've let guys go but this regime felt different but maybe I got fooled again that perhaps this offseason would be different.

        WGR: Sources Say Byrd Gone

Western New York’s number one source for daily sports talk and play-by-play as the flagship station of the Bills and Sabres. Stream, read and download WGR 550 AM from any device on Audacy

According to a source, the Bills and Jairus Byrd may be parting ways soon. Byrd is set to become an unrestricted free agent, and the team has until Monday at 4 pm to place the franchise tag on their star safety. I'm told that it's unlikely they'll use the tag and that it's unlikely they'll reach an agreement before that time.
        COMING SOON...

Well you cannot blame the Bills as they were going to make Bryd the highest paid safety in the first two years.

Sucks but Bryd just wants to move on I guess.

If they were going to do that they would just tag him.

Bills made Jairus Byrd an offer that would’ve made him highest paid S for a portion of his deal. Was rejected. Team still wants to sign him

Or maybe what the Bills deem "significant" isn't enough in Byrd's eyes. What kills me with these rumors id we don't know the number because there's still a possibility that we're trying to under pay Byrd and not give him fair market value.

The Bills offer to Byrd woulve made him 1 of highest paid safeties in the NFL in 1st 2 yrs of deal. They'll continue to work on a new deal

Why not just make him THE highest and/or let it be for his whole deal and or shorten up the teams of it to keep him around for two seasons versus trying to lock him down for four seasons. I'm sick of the self imposed cap the Bills have lived under that prevents them from keeping the talent we have on this roster from staying and then having no one in place to replace it.

Parker and Byrd are playing hard ball, because they still have 24 hours to make the team sweat.

If they truly did offer #1 money, and it was rejected, if I'm in the front office I sit on the numbers and see what happens tonight and tomorrow.

No financially sound way to accomplish that without language that addresses other player's contracts that may be signed in the next couple of seasons, and no GM is going to agree to that.
